Chapter 26: Just Business

*Continuing, two years in the past*

“Today you’ll be going out on a business trip with me, Kade,” Warren said. He spoke proudly and looked at his son while beaming with confidence.

“I thought you didn’t want me sitting in on those trips,” Kade replied. He wore a small frown in contrast to the proud smile of his father. He wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to go out on a business trip. That would likely be the hardest part of the job for him.

“This one isn’t as high profile,” Mr. Monroe said with a wave of his hand. He rounded his desk and came to stand in front of the couch that Kade was seated on. “Besides, Jamison will be accompanying us as a precaution, so there won’t be anything to worry about.”
