After he said what he felt he needed to in order to get his point across, Kade turned back to the front door. In his mind, they had wasted enough time here chatting about this. For all he knew, Jamison’s life could be in danger right that very second. Kade knew that he would never give up their location, even if Kit hadn’t managed to tell the other traitors where they were hiding. 


Every second was precious now and every minute meant putting Jamison closer to being killed for his refusal to comply. That was all the more reason to act now while they had the chance and before anyone else came looking for them. 


“Wait! Wait, I can’t let you go out there alone,” Maya said. She rushed to his side and although she seemed apprehensive still, she gave him a nod as though to confirm she was sure about the choice she was making.
