Chapter 40: Catching a Crook

The moment Maya stepped out of the motel room and into the parking lot, she knew that hunting down Valentino wasn’t going to be easy. They didn’t have any transportation and while they had weapons, it wasn’t as though they had a lot of ammo for them. There was no team to back them up here and nobody who knew that they might be in danger. For all they knew, news of the manor being burned down could have already spread. Rumors of Kade’s demise might have already reached the other Chiefs, which was likely why none of them had reached out.

She was completely on her own with Jamison down for the time being and Kade sitting this one out. Maya was confident she would be able to get the information she needed without a problem. It was handling a man that clearly had many connections under his belt that would be a potential issue. She and Kade had run into so many of Valentino’s lackeys on their way to the club, she wasn’t sure where they were coming from.
