Callum smirked and said in a cocky tone, "I'm every woman's type, you know."
Lucia, infuriated by his arrogance. She wanted to punch him in the face and dump him by the roadside. She had never met anyone as infuriating as him before. "Idiot," she muttered under her breath.
Callum heard her and turned his head to glare at her, but then something else caught his eye. Lucia's hair had shifted to the side, revealing her neck. He saw the kiss mark he had left on her delicate skin. Callum's face lit up with pride, and he couldn't resist reaching out to touch it.
Lucia, caught off guard by the unexpected touch, jerked the steering wheel, causing the car to sway before she regained control. She snapped, "What the hell are you doing?"
Callum, a bit surprised, replied, "Why were you so scared? It's not like there's anyone else here except the two of us. Or did you think I was about to strangle you? Well, you're wrong. I only strangle in the bedroom."
Lucia's eyes squinted, and she seethed. If they weren't driving through this creepy, narrow road she had dreamt about, she might have actually bitten his ear off. She pressed on the accelerator, desperate to leave the area that was giving her the creeps.
Callum noticed her sudden speed and smirked. He misinterpreted her intentions. Thinking she was trying to scare him with her driving skills. He tsked and said, "Are you trying to scare me by doing this? Let me tell you, it's not going to work
Lucia ignored him and focused on the road ahead. She saw a faint light at the end of the road. A smile almost breaking out on her face.
But then, something went wrong. The car started to lose power and slow down. Lucia panicked and pressed the accelerator harder, but nothing happened. The car kept slowing down until it stopped completely.
"No, no, no, please don't do this to me," Lucia pleaded with the car, almost in tears. "Why now?"
Callum looked at the dashboard and saw the gas gauge pointing to empty. "Well, it seems like your car's run out of gas."
Turning towards him, Lucia shot him a glare that said, "I'm not blind; I already knew that."
Callum raised his hands in surrender and said, "Hey, don't look at me like that. It's not my fault. There's a gas station up ahead. It's not that big of a deal. Come on, open the boot, let me get the..."
He didn't finish his sentence as Lucia cut him off with a scream. She looked back at the road and saw something that made her blood run cold. It was a pair of glowing eyes staring at them from the darkness.
Lucia gasped and pointed at the road ahead. "Omg, omg, look at that!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear.
Callum followed her gaze and saw a pair of glowing eyes in the darkness. He was not impressed. He reached out to the steering wheel and pressed the horn, making a loud noise that echoed in the night.
The eyes blinked and moved. A baby deer emerged from the bushes, startled by the sound. It ran away into the woods, leaving them alone.
Callum sneered and turned to Lucia, who looked embarrassed for screaming over nothing. He placed his hand on his chest and pretended to be scared.
"That was so scary, I almost lost my life there," he said sarcastically. "Oh, ew."
Lucia glared at him and said through gritted teeth, "Shut up."
She whimpered and slumped on the wheel, pressing the horn with her weight. The horn sounded loud and long in the dark road, alerting whatever was out there.
"Be careful, you don't want to alert the others now, do you?" Callum said, mocking her.
Lucia sighed and pulled herself up. She leaned back in her seat and tried to calm down.
Callum saw that she was not saying anything and decided to take action. "Open the boot," as he unbuckled his seat belt and got out of the car.
He walked to the back of the car and opened the boot. He took out an empty gallon and closed the boot. He started to walk ahead, hoping to find a gas station soon.
