A Hungry Man

Lucia's grandpa muttered under his breath. "Don't push it. Let the kids decide for themselves." Although he liked Bradley, he didn't want to force the kids on themselves. He didn't want his granddaughter to make the wrong choice. It was her life, after all. He was not going to be around long enough to help her fight all her battles. 

He gazed out the window, taking in the sights and sounds of the busy street. He longed for time to stand still, to enjoy every moment with his granddaughter and meet his great-grandchildren. But his health was failing, and he knew his days were numbered. 'Life is a cruel and merciless thing,' he thought.
