"What advice would you have given there, then?" Vol said, just barely managing to hold back the fist that he was desperate to send Harland's way. "Hold the castle? Fill it with men, and be stuck defending it, so we never progress our invasion beyond the border?"

"I don't understand why that would have been so bad," Harland said. "That was your initial plan. We could overturn a great army there, and all would be well."

"Ah, could we?" Vol said. "Or would they just have camped outside of the walls, and besieged us in the lengthy way?"

"That's…" Harland said, searching for a reply.

Vol sneered. "See? It's not so pissin' easy, is it?"

"You could have just said that," Harland said. "Why is it such a war to get such a simple explanation out of you? Fine. I see what you were trying to avoid. I see why you burned the castle down. But I still don't agree with the suddenness in which you did it. You've made yourself an angry army of men without reason."
