I kept following Jake very closely, I even almost collided with him when he came to a certain stop.

"You okay?" He asked me.

"Yeah."I replied.

"So.... I've been thinking. How exactly did you stop that creature the other day? I know you did something to it. What was it?" Jake asked still paused at the spot.

"I don't really know. I just said something in my mind and it manifested on it's own." I didn't look at him in the face, my eyes were fixed on the ground.

"Wait.... does your power have something to do with mind control?" He inquired.

"I think so. Yeah actually it does." I gave him a small smile.

"Wow... That's... cool. What else can you do with your powers? Except manifesting your thoughts." He seemed interested in knowing.

"Um... that's pretty much it." I said to him.

"How come you haven't told the principal or any of the elementals about this?" He suddenly asked.

"I...um have my reasons. But I think I'm ready to tell them now. Things are getting pretty serious around here." I replied.

"Just be careful... Most people here, aren't what they seem to be." His tone was serious all of a sudden.

"Yeah... You all keep saying things like that. Who exactly am I not supposed to trust? Just give me a name and stop with all the riddles and always keeping me guessing thing. If there's someone so evil in the school, why isn't anyone doing something about it! " I was getting annoyed with all the implies.

"Keep your voice down. We don't wanna attract unwanted attention." Jake looked around for any incoming harm.

"Sorry. Sorry. I just feel like there're some secrets around here that nobody wants me to know about." I said almost whispering now.

"Don't get yourself worked up about it. Just trust your guts in anything you're doing around here."

"Right. Trust my guts. Got it." I said with pursed lips.

Jake seemed to be amused by my expression because a corner of his mouth lifted in a side grin.

"Can I ask you something?" I suddenly blurted out.

"Sure."

"Why do you hate Damon so much?" I summoned the courage to ask.

"Why are you asking me that of all the other questions you could ask me." Jake folded his arms.

"What other questions?" I asked him, curious to know what he had in mind.

"Questions like, do I have a girlfriend? Am I currently dating anyone? Things like that." Jake said cockily.

"Right. And why would I ask that? Who would want to date someone as grumpy and brooding as you." I said hoping to burst his ego.

"Ouch." He said with his grin widening.

"So are you going to answer my question?" I persisted.

"We just don't get along. His mom and my dad aren't cool with each other. So that kinda affected us." He continued walking as he was talking.

"Oh. So it's the thing about fire clan and water tribe hating each other then." I say and peaked up my pace to match his.

"I guess you can say that. I see you've been getting Information of your own." Jake said.

"Yeah...I don't yet have enough information though. Hey you mentioned your Dad. What's he like?" I was suddenly curious.

"Let's not talk about him." Jake's tone changed.

"Okay." I said quickly.

I didn't want him to get upset.

"Wait...do you hear that?" He raised his hand stopping me from taking any step further.

"What?" I waited for a few seconds and then I heard it. Footsteps approaching.

"Get behind me." Jake said and moved me to his back. He conjured a fire blazing sword ⚔️ and held it up firmly.

We waited for some seconds for the person to be revealed.

And low and behold, Madeline came running through.

"Oh my gosh! Geez you guys scared me. Wait Is it really you guys or..... should I just continue running?" Madeline said while trying to catch her breath.

"It's us. You can relax now." Jake said to her.

Madeline squinted her eyes a little at him, looking unsure."Sure about that? Because that's exactly what the last 'you' I saw said to me. So I'm not really convinced."

"Madeline, I'm also here. And I'm telling you that it's us. Are you convinced yet?." I said with my hands up.

"Hmm what if you two are just monsters working together to get me! " Madeline said still not convinced.

"Geez you're such a drama queen. If you don't believe us, then you can continue your little race to nowhere." Jake said and made his sword disappear and resumed the journey.

"Are you coming? It's not wise to stay apart after the split up earlier." I said to her.

She still had her arms folded.

"Fine. Let's just go. Anyway, what were you two talking about?" She suddenly asked.

"Um. About the school." I said to her.

"About the school? Okayyyy. Is it just that?" She asked.

"Yeah." I replied.

"Okay then. We better catch up to him." Madeline said and we both did a little run to catch up to Jake.

"Didn't you learn anything from the last time we split up? Or you just want this little maze run not to end." Jake said to us sounding annoyed when we caught up to him.

"Sorry." I said to him.

He turned to look at me briefly.

"Soo! What's the plan now?" Madeline asked.

"We find the others. Then hunt Down these monsters." Jake sounded determined.

"So how do we find them. We don't have all the time in the world you know." Madeline said.

"I've been thinking about that. Cassie, Your power is related to the mind, I think you can use it to find the rest of us. You can search through your mind and find their own minds. It'll be much quicker if you ask me." Jake explained.

Madeline looked at me unbelievably.

I suddenly heard a low voice coming from her direction.... Coming from her, but her lips weren't moving.

(I can't believe she blabbed about her powers to Jake. So much for me being her only friend.)

I kept looking at Madeline which made her raise an eyebrow at me.

I looked away from her, trying to understand what just happened then the voice came again.

(Does she like Jake or something? She better not. Jake is mine.)

This time around, I couldn't help but gasp. I looked at her again.

"What?" Madeline asked.

"Nothing." I replied as calmly as I could.

"Okay, so do you think you can do it?" Jake asked me.

I looked at Jake, waiting to see if I'd also hear something from him. But nothing came.

That's it. I must be going crazy. This school has successfully turned me to crazy.

"Are you okay?" Jake asked me looking concerned.

"I'm good." I said quickly.

I looked over to Madeline. She was eyeing me weirdly.

"I think I can do it. I think I can find Phoebe And Damon." I finally say.

"Great." Jake seemed relieved.

(I knew she had potential, she just doesn't know it yet.)

I suddenly heard Jake's additional voice.

I tried to pretend like nothing was happening.

What ever this is, I must keep it to myself until I understand it.

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

Trying to focus as best as I can.

There was absolute silence until Madeline's voice distracted me.

(What the hell is she doing right now? Gosh I can't stand her acting like the main character all the damn time. So annoying!)

My eyes flew open and I gave Madeline a look.

"What?" She asked me innocently.

"Is something wrong?" Jake added.

"No. Everything is fine." I said to them and closed my eyes back.

This time I mentally blocked everything that dared to distract me.

I listened.

I saw myself traveling, floating in space around all the corners of west wing A, in complete silence.

I came to a stop when I heard a voice. It was Phoebe's.

I went closer to the voice and then I saw her.

She was sitting on the ground, with her legs folded like she was mediating or something.

I listened again and got just one thought from her.

(Where are they?.)

I guess she was also looking for us.

After taking in the environment, I decided to go look for Damon next.

Atleast now I know where Phoebe is.

(Something's wrong) I heard Phoebe's voice say.

She still seemed like she was meditating.

What could be wrong? I asked myself.

Her eyes suddenly flew open.

I paused on my track, hoping she can't see me. I mean it'd be impossible.

I'm practically in her mind.

(The air suddenly seems so tense... it's Unnatural. What could it mean?)

I heard her inner voice say.

She kept looking around her surrounding, searching for something, until her eyes came to a pause at exactly where I was standing.

She squinted her eyes at my direction but suddenly shook it off.

"What the hell am I doing? There's nothing there. And How can I not even hear anyone? This super enhanced hearing of mine isn't really helping me out right now." Phoebe said to herself and launched herself on the ground again.

(This is stupid but I gotta find the rest) her inner voice said as she went into a meditating position again.

I let out a breath of relief.

"Don't worry Phoebe. We're coming for you. First, I have to find Damon too." I said to myself.

I closed my eyes and I was suddenly floating in space again.

I listened for Damon's voice. And I easily caught it.

I got closer to his voice then started to panic.

He's not alone.
