Chapter 10: Chapter Ten

*Jonathan’s POV*

Well, this went to Hell in a handbasket faster than I thought.

Everywhere, there are sirens, flashing blue and red lights, ambulances, and officers as far as the eye can see. Barriers and perimeters are already up, thankfully, and the media is being kept a fair distance away. I keep tabs on where those cameras are to avoid being seen. I am still technically under cover as an officer, even if I did just blow my cover.

I reach up and dig the little bit of crust out of the corner of my right eye.

This is not good, but there is no way I can worry about that at the moment. I have to see if there is anything else I can notice about the scene before going back to Brielle. One phone call and my undercover stealth operation mission will come to a grinding halt. Not only that, but her family, specifically her father, will see the end of me. Hopefully, Brielle has avoided doing anything stupid and has not said anything to her family just yet.

I just need time.
