Chapter 12: Chapter Twelve

*Brielle’s POV*

I hear him say the words, but my mind does not register them completely.

“Um… excuse me? They think my family is responsible for all of this?” I ask. Jonathan’s single nod confirms his previous statement.

My mind is reeling, and I am two seconds away from laying waste to the first person who messes with me, which will most likely be Jonathan at this point.

“On what grounds? You just said there are no fingerprints or DNA at the scene of the crime. We are shrewd business owners who have diverse portfolios, business partners, and investors. Why do you think it’s me?” I demand, folding my arms and leaning all my weight onto one hip and then leaning back ever so slightly.

“Brielle, you are making it sound like I am the one accusing you and your family. I said ‘they’ think that your family is responsible,” says Jonathan, keeping his tone even. He knows I’m onto him.
