Chapter 36

Tori

"You're WHAT? Actually don't answer that. Did you take a test?"

Rina lives about 5 miles from my house. With the added stop it should take me about 20 minutes to get there. I push the car to start and pull out the driveway.

"I haven't but my period is late." She whispers. My heart sinks to my stomach. I love Rina incredibly. I never want anything bad to happen to her. I've always been by her side to shield her from as much as I could.

It's too late to protect her from this problem though. We just need to be logical and deal with it accordingly.

"Well that doesn't mean much, your periods are always so irregular. A few months ago you had 2 in the same month. Periods in your case aren't the best way to predict pregnancy. I'm on my way, we will sort this out."

I stayed on the phone, and listened to Rina cry and throw up. I'm going to kill that bastard who did this to her. Not that I'm saying anything is wrong with her yet, but if it is. I'll pay a lot of money to slap his face at their next concert. Who cares if he was, emphasis on the WAS, my bias?

I run into the convenience store and buy two tests of every brand. I'm absolutely feeling like a soon to be Dad, frazzled and carrying about twenty pregnancy tests. Just to, you know, "make sure." My phone rings, it's Kang.

"Not now, Kang. Sorry for the abruptness but my best friend is having an emergency."

"Oh sorry sweetheart, I'll let you go. Call me if you need me or when you are done."

God, I love him. It's not his fault Shin Tae Woo is a prick. Even though they are best friends.

I open Rina's lock with my spare key and barge right in. Heading straight towards the bathroom and of course she's asleep on the floor. I contemplate waking her up but then decide this is more important, "Hey sweetie, let's see if I'm going to be an Auntie."

Rina's eyes flash open and is staring daggers at me.

"Sorry hun, too soon. You can punch me later."

Pulling Rina up is quite easy, she has lost a lot of weight.

I shove a solo cup into her hand, I picked up a package at the store. "Pee in this."

She glares again, and takes the cup. "Leave."

"Absolutely not sweetie. I'm here with you. I always will be. No matter what."

I have all of the tests arranged off of the edge of the sink, 15 in total. Me and her begin dipping them into the pee. She sets the last one down, and I grab her hand and pull her in. I feel her chest start to heave as she cries into my neck.

In between bouts of sobs she mumbles out, "I didn't need to take a test, I already know. I'm pregnant. I've been sick for a week. I'm emotional. I just feel different. I'm a mom now. Trust me. I can feel it and I hate that."

I'm slowly patting her back, as we cry more. The alarm I set on my phone jolted us apart.

Pregnant. Pregnant. Pregnant. Pregnant. I don't need to deeply look at the other 11. She's pregnant.

"We have to tell Tae Woo." I look into her darkened eyes. She retorts quickly, " We won't, we can't. Absolutely not. He is in a relationship with another person. This would ruin his career. His dreams. No."

"Fuck his career, Rina."

She's not budging on this one, but I still try to change her mind.

"He got you pregnant. He needs to help you deal with this."

"I can handle this on my own. I will not let this be a burden to him."

She softens, and I melt.

"Please just trust me on this. Keep this between us…." She looks away, and then back into my eyes. "I know I am already asking a lot here, but please help me. I'm begging you. I can't be a mom. I'm not ready."

I brace her shoulders. "Of course Rina, I'll always be there. I think first things first we need get you proper medical care. We should schedule and even make sure it's a viable pregnancy. That it's not hurting you. I mean you are throwing up a lot. Is that normal? This is your area of expertise. Anyways, after that let's discuss options."
