APRIL
"How's she been doing, Kuro?"
"She's showing signs of responding to sound or touch." Kuro assured Austin. "It means she'll soon wake up. You should visit her. She might have her memories muddled up but she'll get better."
"Thanks. I hope to visit today."
"Hey Lora." Austin sat beside the hospital bed. "I have been a horrible person, haven't I?"
She was still asleep so, he held her hand. "I have no right to visit you but you were all I could think about."
She squeezed his hand and released her grip. "I guess you are still pissed with me, are you?"
No response.
"Allie and Zeke had your room repainted. I got a new house for you guys. I wanted to tell you later on but there wasn't a good time."
"I'm sorry. I wasn't there to protect you from that assassination. I'll find who did it but, doubt that will make a difference. I'll come back to see you and I hope you get better."
He stood up and Kuro walked in.
"How'd it go?"
"She just held my hand. She had no response to anything I said or did." He looked absolutely depressed.
"It's okay. You'll see her when she wakes up."
"No, I don't want her to see me." He looked at Alora, unconscious and with a head injury. "I'll feel worse and it will be much better if she doesn't meet me. I don't deserve her anyway."
"Don't be so hard on yourself, Sir Cannon." Kuro assured him. "But if you insist, I guess it will be better. If that's what you think,of course."
"Watch over her in my place and inform me if she wakes up or if she is ever stable. Can I trust you?" He politely inquired.
"I don't even know you. Was she that important enough to turn a heartless mafia boss polite?" Kuro narrowed her eyes suspiciously.
"Can you take care of her or not?"
"I will. Sheesh." She rolled her eyes. "Now out. Your visit has a time limit and you have extinguished that time." She pushed him out of the room.
"I'll take care of her. Don't worry."
