Chapter 51: Protecting the Civilians

Everyone's reaction is understandable currently they are all stuck in a place where danger is almost unpredictable.

And what's worse is that during the transformation of the dungeon, the exit is non-existent. So, it is quite how this situation affects everyone's psyche not to mention there are at least almost a hundred civilians around here

Which is dangerous, especially for the young and the old. Or to anyone who doesn't have any combat abilities the only saving grace now is that it is still forming so monsters are not yet going to attack us.

Then a little later a man pushed forward and as he stood up, he started to say something to calm everyone down.

"Everyone I am a C-rank hunter I don't know if anyone is higher ranking than me but if there is please come upfront and hopefully be our leader."

"""...."""

"If not, I would like to guide the raid of this dungeon."

"Wait what about the civilians?"

"What about them?"

"Huh?"

"This is the dungeon the moment they get in that is the time they have their lives on the line meaning if they are not useful, they are dead."

"Why you-?"

"Honey, wait. That guy is a C-rank hunter you are only D-rank You can't beat him."

"Tsk, sorry you're right. But I won't be leaving them be. I will stay with the civilians!"

"Fine then. Those who want to conquer the dungeon join me."

With that as the signal, two camps have been made the ones protecting the civilians and the ones raiding the dungeon.

"Why is he like this he isn't like we all wanted it to be here."

"Well, that's to be expected after all this is only a newly formed dungeon just think about it."

"Oh yeah, newly formed dungeons are usually weak, If only I was strong I would have joined them."

"That's true? It is said that a group of F-rank hunters can conquer a newly formed dungeon but that is in the speculation that it is not a possible A rank."

"That's right because if it is then we need at least a group of C-rank hunters are needed to raid a potential A-rank dungeon."

"Yeah. Those guys who joined the raid are somewhat around the D+ and E+ ranks. With one C-rank being the only one in their group."

"Enough, for now, we need to gather everyone to safety we don't know when monsters will show up."

"Okay everyone, can I get your attention, please? We need to hide from the monsters that might show up so please follow me."

It happened so fast the argument didn't last. Now two teams had been formed the ones trying to conquer the new dungeon and the group protecting the civilians.

And as for Jayven, he stood by the side who wanted to protect the civilians.

'I don't know what my rank is but I guess my strength should be at C+ rank or B- rank by now. Either way, I am going to follow these guys. I am also worried about civilians' safety.'

And as Jayven was helping the civilians in moving out of the place a guy suddenly asked him a question.

"Kid are you not gonna join them?"

"No, the safety of these people is more important."

As he was following the group of helpers, he instinctively answered the guy who asked him a question.

"I see well it's not my right to but in other people's affairs but you seem to be someone who can be a hunter right? Isn't joining them and getting more treasures better?"

"Nah I don't want that kind of lifestyle."

"Oh, are you some kind of good Samaritan type of guy?"

"I guess?" The guy kept on talking to Jayven and along the way, the two followed the group of civilians to safety.

Then as expected monsters arrived in their direction initiating a battle. The monsters were small children-like size creatures with green skin and rag clothing. And as one would expect they are goblins.

"These are goblins huh?"

"Then that means this is a cave or forest-type dungeon."

"You might be right but remember nothing is absolute so let's finish them all fast."

"Yeah, let's do this."

The group then fought back against the goblins.

At first, they were able to gain the upper hand as they led the civilians to safety, and along the way, they were able to keep the pace going.

And to make it easier they took the weapons that the goblins have as self-defense.

Their equipment is trash but choosers can't be beggars.

"Yeah, I guess."

Because of this, it became easier to defend and attack the goblins.

But that didn't last long as the numbers of the goblins were increasing as time went by making it difficult for them to advance.

"Damn it there are so many of them how are we supposed to stop them."

"Stop them? More like, how are we going to survive this?"

The situation got worse as time went on and then a hobgoblin arrived.

"SH1T! A hobgoblin is here. What should we do?"

"Are we gonna abandon them?"

"What else do you wanna do? Help them and die?"

"I don't want to leave them."

"Kuh fine, everyone we need you all to gather up, so they would only attack those who are hunters."

"Don't worry I will join."

Realizing their situation, a man among the crowd volunteered to fight.

"Don't worry my skill can help me resist some of their attacks and I practiced a bit of basic mana technique."

"I will also help Although my skill is not useful in attacking, I have high Attainments for basic mana techniques."

"I can help you by giving out potions. I am an alchemist here are some healing and enhancement potions."

"I am also an alchemist let me help."

"I also want to help."

One after the other volunteered to help the hunters and later on, they managed to resist. And push back.

"Good work everyone. Thanks to you guys we were able to fight back."

"""Yeah."""

"""Let's go."""

The group was hyped as everyone tried their best to fight off the monsters.

As for Jayven, he looked at the Hobgoblin with a weird expression. But there was still determination in his eyes as he remembered the previous event.

'Never thought I would fight this guy here. Although you are not the one who beat me up, I can just do the same to you guys here.'

So, with great focus, he hunted the monsters more efficiently and especially made a huge deal against the hobgoblins attacking.

Moments later the wave of monsters subsided and all were exhausted but even with clear fatigue written on their faces, the groups still moved to safety.

They would take a break every few minutes to recover from fatigue and let the civilians rest, and every time they did a scout would go and search the area.

With great perseverance and a continuous wave of monsters, the group pushed themselves until they arrived in a cave.

"We found a cave."

"Good, are there any monsters inside?"

"None that I can spot on."

"That should be okay then."

"Alright everyone we are going in inside the cave so get ready."

Hearing that the group rejoiced and moved to where the cave was located.

And as they were walking to the cave the man who was talking to Jayven before complimented his abilities.

"You are good at fighting huh what's your rank?"

"I don't know last time I checked I was E but maybe I can reach till c rank."

"Huh, I see."

The guy questioning Jayven seems to be in deep thought as he stops talking.

'What is wrong with this guy is he gay or something all of his questions sound personal but there is borderline respect so I just answered without thinking much.'

Then as though he made up his mind he asked Jayven again.

"Well, how about this when we led the civilians to safety, let's join the group and maybe get a share of the loot. Also, let's tell the others of our plan I bet they will be down for it."

"I'll think about it." 'I don't know what he wants but I just give him a vague reply, this guy is suspicious after all.'

"Good, think carefully then."

The group continued to walk arriving at a cave where they could rest.

"Okay then everyone. We finally arrived we will wait here till rescue arrives hopefully we will not meet any monsters."

"Yeah, I hope so too."

"But just to be sure we need a rotation of groups so that we can scout the place and kill any monsters that are approaching our area."

"Yeah, I second that."

"How about the others?"

"Yes we should"

"I agree."

"We would like to do that as well."

"Good, we will form a group then."

Having accepted the idea, the group then took turns hunting monsters outside as they let the civilians rest and hide for safety.
