Chapter 52: The Assassins' Attempt

Arriving at the cave the group huddled up and rested in a protected. But not everything was okay.

So it was unknown who said it but a person said their concern for their current situation.

"The only problem now is food though."

"Yeah, what should we do?"

A lot agreed with the person's sentiment all of them used too much strength during the fight after all.

"I think I can be of help."

Then one of the alchemists said as a small bag was opened.

Here are monster carcasses that could be used for us to cook. I also have some seasonings.

"Oh, little cutie thanks. I never thought a girl so young as you should be this capable."

"Um, I am seventeen though."

"Eh, you don't look older than 14 though."

"Hey, that's disrespectful."

"Oh sorry, I was just surprised that's all."

"Well, I can't blame I was surprised as well."

"You are one brave girl here I will also offer some of my ingredients for you all."

"Ohh thanks, man."

The place was in a sudden festive mood, as the food was given to everyone.

'I guess she is going to join a school huh? I wonder how she would do. Since she was so brave to help others even exposing herself with a storage bag. But it is also good since the other alchemist did the same Hopefully the food would last long.'

As this went on to Jayven's mind, everyone rested after the meal.

Later groups were formed to patrol the area. And swapping after coming back.

Waiting for their turn as they rested Jayven looked at the whole dungeon from his vision and was amazed.

'This place is really weird although the sky was so clear earlier now it is like a night light as the place was covered by UV rays' protector from sunglasses.'

Interested in the situation inside the dungeon, Jayven examined the shade covering the whole place which reminded him of a sunglass.

"Is this your first time in a dungeon?"

Then the man from earlier talked to Jayven as he was looking at the shade of the place. Not having any reason to lie to the guy Jayven answered honestly.

"Yeah, I was just wondering. Since this is my first dungeon diving."

"Oof, that's unfortunate well lucky for you I think I can help you in this raid."

"I think you forgot what I said earlier."

"I know you want to help these guys right?" He said pointing to the civilians.

"Well, how about this when we scout as a group?"

"Yeah, I guess that's okay."

"Okay then, I will show you what I can do and maybe it can change your mind."

With nothing much to do with this guy's persistence, Jayven just agreed not knowing his intentions. But that doesn't mean he doesn't harbor any doubts in his mind about this guy. Instead, he became even more suspicious.

Before long it was their turn and just like what the guy said he showed off his skills. And just like he said he was good at what he did as he kept on killing monsters

"Wow, you can do that?"

"Mister, why didn't you talk that guy down earlier?"

Seeing his capabilities in fighting monsters the other two groupmates were in awe of the man.

"Hehe, nothing I can do about that I was keeping a low profile for personal reasons that's all."

"I see that's understandable."

"Yeah, a hunter's life is filled with lots of opponents after all."

"Oh yeah, you are this strong so your rank might be high right?"

"Well yeah, my rank is."

As the group was gathering near the guy Jayven noticed something.

"What is that? Hmm maybe-."

As Jayven was about to go near what he saw someone called out to him.

"Hey Kid, come here for a second."

Seeing the man called out to him Jayven walked towards him.

"Hmm, what is it?"

"You see what I can do right so how about it wanna join me then?"

"Woah what is this?"

"I want to hear it as well."

"I am a B-rank hunter and seeing his ability I thought I if helping him out. "

"That's amazing "

"But if you are a B-rank adventurer then why didn't you stop that guy?"

"I was going to but I heard him say about abandoning the civilians so I thought of helping them here."

"I see you are such a good person."

"That is so kind of you."

"Ahahaha that's very normal if you think about it."

Hearing his words everyone felt refreshed and felt happy about what he just said. And as things went on they started to respect him more and more.

"So what do you say, kid?"

Then with a comforting smile, he asked Jayven again.

"I am amazed by your ability and I think it would be a waste not to make full use of it."

"Yeah, I saw it too although he is not as strong as you sir."

"Ahahaha, well my guild master is even better."

"Really what is your guild?"

Me too I wanna what is it.

They continued to pester the man and as for Jayven he just watched silently as he felt that there wasn't anything good about what he said.

He is weird although his words are genuine and his actions are real. His atmosphere is menacing as though it is a place that will drag you into the deepest part of the ocean.

Jayven kept on having a bad feeling about the guy and clearly, he didn't want to get near him. So instead of getting any closer to him he prepared to pull the guys at from and answered him.

"As much as I would like to join you, I already have joined a guild.

'Lies I haven't joined one but it is better to act like this. Also, I think Master is part of a guild, so maybe he has a plan to let me join it.'

"Oh, I see that's too bad."

As he said that he swung his blade in slow motion. But unlike it's slow movement it was extremely fast that only the after images were seen creating an illusion that it was slow.

So utilizing his senses and fast reaction speed honed from the Maze mansion he swiftly pulled the two people with him and backed away before they could get even more severe wounds.

Thankfully I can instantly use my techniques if not I don't what would have happened to the two.

Ever since they worked as a group Jayven used Steel Copper's body, to cover his body making it ready for any possible outcome.

During the execution of the man's attack, he used shadow steps to move forward and back to get the two and evade the man's attack.

But all of it wouldn't have been possible without the mountain tiger claw's speed in which he pulled the two away from the weapons range.

Although he expected this it was still a surprise as he knew that what the man did just now was brutal.

"Heh, you were able to dodge that huh? Oh well, there's always another one."

Saying that a new attack came rushing to Jayven and the others. But not wanting to get implicated in the attack Jayven took a knife out of his bag and blocked it.

With a spark as two metals clash the blade of the man was blocked and not missing his surprised expression. Jayven threw another knife putting some distance between them as the man dodged the attack.

"Well, well, well, not bad. I guess Hunting you will be a fun experience."

"You are from an assassin guild."

"That's right I am from the Assassin Guild, Clown's Grave. I am also known as the Crazy Blade."

"Clown's Grave, Crazy Blade?"

"Crazy Blade is no way he is a rank A assassin although he has a rank B strength his way of killing is so brutal that he was raised to A rank."

"Oh, you know me that's good. Anyway, I was thinking of asking you to be part of our group we are low on manpower after all."

The assassin Crazy Blade said to Jayven.

"So that is why you seem to want to get close to me."

"Yeah, it seems a waste to kill a person with your potential. I already read your background and I thought of it as a sad fate. But if you join us, you can get more than what you have from your current state."

With a face filled with confidence, he gave Jayven an offer, explaining why it was beneficial to join them.

"I heard you have a right to apply for a first-rate hunter school and a guaranteed spot at a second-rate one. But let me tell you this our ways are more efficient than them you will get stronger fast."

He walks slowly towards Jayven as he continues to give his speech, making Jayven back up even more.
