Embark

It’s been two days, but there was no ambush—in fact, it seemed as if the Ikes weren’t even in the area.

Groups of scouts went out to check the area, but there was no sight of Ikes.

Then they sent the drone—the drone meant to communicate with the scientist—was sent out.

No one saw anything.

As a huge sigh of relief, soldiers from all over the compound believed that Peter saw a skunk or perhaps some rock.

They also believed that he might’ve gotten scratched from tree bark.

They were right about the wound, but the assumption of Ikes was incorrect. Peter told them and pleaded to them to listen, but they mostly returned with jokes.

Xavier was with those people, but secretly he believed Peter.

And Micah was ashamed of such actions that these soldiers encouraged.

It was noon, and everyone migrated to their tents for food.

When Micah went to his tent—which was orange, he saw Peter there looking away from everyone with a mopey face.
