After a few minutes, Papa had quite a few chopped logs.

I grabbed them and carried them over to the water furnace.

Daddy smiled as he took them from me on the way. "Rohan, what did I say? You don't have to carry them. I'll take care of it."

I frowned as the single half long he had left me with. "But, I can do it. I don't want to be useless."

"You aren't useless, son. You're five-years-old, so it's natural that you can't carry too much."

"But-"

He chuckled as he threw the wood into the furnace and set the wood inside on fire with some matches. "Besides, you already helped me. How about you go help your big sister cook while your mom and I take our shower?"

"Okay. Wait, there's a creaky floorboard in the staircase," I said.

"I'll take care of it, Rohan," Daddy said, smirking.

"No, I can do it!" I said, shaking my head. "I am your son, after all."

He laughed. "My preschooler son?"
