I glanced at Kine as we neared the town. "Thanks for picking me up, Kine."

He smiled even as he kept his eyes on the road. "It's the least that I can do for you, Princess. Plus, I would hate to see Captain Saffron sad."

Kine. He was as nice as when we were kids.

I eyed a mud puddle in the distance and smiled. It brought back memories of simpler days, back when the greatest concern we had was keeping our clothes clean.

I sat in the garden as the adults and the rest of the kids chatted and played.

"Why are you by yourself, Princess?" a voice asked.

I looked up and saw Kine. He was a bit older than big bro. His kid-sized suit was messed up by all the running around and literal mud slinging.

"Lost?" I asked.

He sighed. "Yeah. Your brother got me."

He pointed to his muddy suit and I couldn't help but giggle.
