I glanced at Sil. He had a smile on his face as he held his little hands up, moving them around as if he were moving a steering wheel.

Mrs. Daikiri giggled. "He must be dreaming of driving again."

I nodded. He really loved his vroom-vrooms.

Sil groaned and lowered his arms as he rolled. "No, Mommy!"

"Baby, I'm here," Mrs. Daikiri said, picking him up.

Sil panted and hugged her. "Vroom-vroom went boom..."

"Shh, it's okay. You're safe, sweetheart," she said, cradling him. "It was just a dream. Your vroom-vroom is safe and sound."

I couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy for Sil. Even for adults, having a car blow up in front a person like that would've been traumatizing. More so for a child such as Sil.

Alli patted her brother's head. "It's okay, Sil. I'll protect you."

Mrs. Daikiri kissed his forehead. "We won't let anything bad happen to you, sweetie."
