I began to set the table while Dahlia went to inform the others that lunch was almost ready. She had made stew for everyone. I wondered if our mutual granddaughter would like it. When her uncle Orlin was her age, he wouldn't eat it unless it had more yummy meat. Even now, Orlin prefered his stew with a lot of meat. My son would certainly not be pleased with this veggie stew, but I hoped Anis would have a more adventurous palate.
As I arranged the bowls, the soft sound of footsteps approached. I turned to see Dahlia returning, cradling Anis in her arms. A faint smile tugged at my lips at the sight of our granddaughter, her big, round eyes wide with curiosity.
"Look who I brought!" Dahlia said, giggling as she rocked Anis.
