Chapter 06:A Call From Lisa

"Yes I'm fine!" the girl said "thanks for helping out there, didn't know what I would have done, if you haven't showed up" the girl thanked with a sigh of relief

"Its nothing, you just gotta be careful, okay" Sarah said with a smile

"I'm Alice, what's your name?" the girl asked

"I'm Sarah" Sarah replied

"Do you live around here?" the girl asked

"Not at all, just got into town today, I'm yet to find a place to stay anyways" Sarah said with a shrug as she walked down the street with Alice

"Oh really! where would you be spending the night then?" Alice asked looking at her

"I booked a hotel, nearby, that would do for the night, then by tomorrow, I should find a place to stay" Sarah replied "what about you, do you stay with your parents?" Sarah asked

"No dear, I live alone, I'm a student of pristine University, my hometown is a bit faraway from here, so I stay alone" Alice replied

"Ohh! that's great, but where are you coming from by this time?" Sarah asked

"I work as a concierge at Golden hotel, my shift ended late today, so I was on my way back home when the taxi I boarded broke down, and these guys started harassing me" Alice replied, looking uneasy at the memory of the incident.

"I'm sorry that happened to you," Sarah said, placing a reassuring hand on Alice's shoulder.

"Thanks again for helping me out," Alice said, smiling at Sarah. "Would you like to grab something to eat? My treat."

"Sure, that would be nice," Sarah replied, happy to have made a new friend in this unfamiliar place. As they walked down the street, Sarah and Alice chatted animatedly, getting to know each other better. They exchanged contact details and made plans to hang out again soon.

As they sat in the restaurant, enjoying a sumptuous meal, Sarah couldn't help but reflect on how glad she was that she had been in the right place at the right time to help Alice out. Sometimes, a small act of kindness could go a long way in making someone's day a whole lot better. She was happy to have made a new friend, and she knew that this chance encounter would lead to many more exciting adventures in the future.

The next day, Sarah left the hotel she booked the previous day with her luggage, she was in search of a house, just outside the hotel, her phone began to ring, it was from Lisa, her high school bestie

"Hey" she said to Lisa

"What happened? I just came over to your house right now and your mom said you left town, why?" Lisa asked disappointedly

"Yeah long story short, I'm on a training" Sarah replied

"What training?" Lisa asked with a furrowed eyebrow

"As the heir apparent to my family's business, I have to undergo a poverty training before I can run the business" Sarah explained

Lisa was surprised and intrigued, "Poverty training? What does that entail?"

"Well, the idea is to learn about the struggles and challenges that people from low-income families face on a daily basis. This helps to build character, empathy, and compassion. It's not just about living in poverty, it's about understanding it, learning from it, and using that knowledge to make a positive impact on the world."

"That's really interesting," Lisa said, "I never knew that kind of training existed."

"It's not widely known," Sarah said, "but it's required for all heirs to the family business. I actually just enrolled in a program that takes me to different parts of the world to experience poverty firsthand."

"That sounds like a life-changing experience," Lisa said.

"It definitely is," Sarah agreed. "I'm excited about it, but at the same time, I'm a little nervous. It's going to be a major adjustment for me, but I'm hopeful that it will make me a better person, and a better leader in the long run."

"Why didn't you mention this to either John or myself about this?" Lisa asked

"I didn't know myself, mom told me on my birthday night, it was urgent, so I had to leave as soon as possible" Sarah defended

Lisa wished her friend the best of luck and they ended the call.

Sarah continued her search for a house, still deep in thought about the challenges she was about to face. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was determined to complete the training and become the best version of herself.

As she walked down the street, she noticed a woman huddled over in a corner, holding a baby and asking for help. Sarah knew this was a sign - a reminder of why she was doing the poverty training. She approached the woman and offered her assistance.

This was just the beginning of Sarah's journey, but she knew it was a step in the right direction.
