Her Turn

Even though Nicholas was furious, he couldn't do anything. After all, they were in public, and he had to keep his image despite how much he hated socializing.

Abigail's turn was the last, and for a good reason. After all, she had such good things to say to the entire world. She giggled backstage thinking of everything that she had planned for her dear husband.

The first woman went on the stage. She was the girlfriend of one of Nicholas's partners. When she walked on the stage, she blushed seeing everyone else as she cleared her throat and gripped the mic hard. "Um… Best of luck baby~"

After that, she practically ran backstage as if her tail was on fire. Seeing her action, a few people chuckled while others awe'ed in response.

Abigail clicked her tongue in annoyance. This girl was so terrible at making speeches.

Why don't you just say 'I love you' directly on the stage?

The girl's words were so cliche that Abigail felt a bubble of annoyance filling up her heart, but it was just a teaser. The worst things were yet to come.

Slowly, as the event progressed, several girls came and went backstage, blushing. They all basically either confessed their feelings for their lovers or expressed their admiration for their temporary partners.

When Abigail thought the worst had already happened, a woman came forward and actually confessed her love to the famous CEO she had long admired. But in the end, she was brutally rejected.

The woman raised her head at the CEO partner of hers who didn't reply and was even scoffing at her from the public. Tears poured down her cheeks as she choked up and said, "You… You really don't love me anymore?"

The CEO bluntly shook his head and even glared at her.

"Okay… I get it. I'm not your type after all." The woman laughed out of sadness. "Then… I wish you a lot of happiness in your life."

After that, she wiped her face and ran backstage.

Abigail's expressions were dark as she witnessed this brutal event unfolding. She wanted to roll up her sleeves and kill that damned CEO who dared to make a girl cry.

Are you even a man?! How can you reject a girl like that?! Try being on the other side of the coin and see what happens if you get rejected brutally like that!

But Abigail still had her reasoning side of the mind working terribly fast. So she took a deep breath and stood there, waiting for her turn.

Thankfully, that woman was the last before her. Anne from the side also noticed her friend's off mood as she looked at her worriedly.

"Abi, are you alright?"

"Uh huh." Abigail chuckled coldly and cracked her knuckles. "I'm all set for the show to get started."

Those words somehow made Anne even more worried. Her brows furrowed as she pursed her lips, saying, "Abi, don't speak nonsense, okay?"

"I have never spoken nonsense ever in my life." Abigail scoffed at her friend and walked forward, taking a mic from a lady standing at the side.

Once she went on the stage, everyone went silent. Honestly, they were all curious about the lady who dared to show her tongue to the great Nicholas Harrison. Now that she was here, they were all waiting for her to introduce herself and just be done with it.

They were all too curious about her, after all.

Abigail glanced at the audience as her eyes paused at the man who had just insulted that woman earlier and brutally rejected her. That was an act she hated from the depths of her heart.

So she raised her head and said arrogantly, "You. Come to the stage."

Everyone was confused about whom she was talking about. Even Nicholas couldn't make a head or tail of the situation. So he simply stood there and decided to watch the show. As long as that crazy lady didn't involve him in her mess, he was fine. In any case, he would be married to that troublesome woman for three years only.

Actually, Abigail hadn't written the details of the contract, and when she signed, she didn't even read the entire thing before signing it. So she still didn't know there was such a thing as contract terms.

She stood there confidently on the stage with one of her hands on her hip. When that damned CEO didn't move, she got impatient as she pointed her finger at the man.

"You, the one who humiliated that lady before me. I'm asking you to come to the stage."

Everyone started murmuring amongst themselves after hearing those words.

Just what was Abigail up to? Who was she to point fingers at people like this?

Wasn't she just a partner who managed to climb to Nicholas's bed?

The more the CEO thought about it, the angrier he got. He took a deep breath and decided to walk over and humiliate another ant beneath his feet.

So he walked upstairs to the stage and went to Abigail. Soon, a mic was presented to him by a stunned lady from the backstage as she returned and continued to watch the show.

Anne also facepalmed herself seeing this situation. She so wanted to drag her friend back, but she knew she couldn't do it in front of everyone. After all, she was the only one to come to this place without a partner.

"Do you know who I am?" The CEO asked in a threatening voice.

If it were any other girl, she would have been scared sh*tless to the point of crying. But Abigail was different. She merely sneered at those words.

"I don't, and," Abigail smiled sweetly as if she were saying the sweetest thing in the world, "I don't care even if you were the richest here or a donkey."

"You-!" The CEO was speechless and angry. He wanted to kick the girl off the stage, but since they were in public, he took a deep breath and stood there, saying, "You're playing with fire."

"Oh, how come I didn't know that?" Abigail felt like she finally got someone to vent her frustrations. Since she didn't have much time, she got back on the topic. "I called you here for a reason. Apologize to her. As long as you apologize to her, you get to walk out of here with your hair intact."

Nicholas's eyes squinted. This was the first time he was ever seeing his 'dear wife' in a good light. Honestly, it was a pleasure seeing her point finger at that stupid competitor of his.
