Rose and Lily

I moved into an apartment that Carol had rented a month ago.

"Avoid going out too much. If you have to, wear wigs and sunglasses. If anyone found out about this, we would be in huge trouble."

"I know."

"I won't call you unless something comes up. Don't call me or come over. Eat takeout as much as possible. My mobile will be on all day. If I call you, you must answer immediately in case I need your help with an emergency I can't handle."

I turned to look at her. She was fiddling with her hair in front of the mirror as she spoke.

"Okay," said I.

Edward landed at 8 at night. At 7:45, I couldn't help and take a taxi to the airport.

I didn't know why I did this.

Wearing a wig and sunglasses, I stood at a distance from Carol who was filled with excitement and anticipation.

"Carrie!"

I froze and instinctively looked over. Edward was walking toward Carol with a smile on his face.

I hadn't seen him for two months. He seemed to be a little tanned and tired.
