Chapter 49 : A Party to Remember

The Ashworth mansion was full to capacity with well dressed party guests drinking expertly mixed cocktails. There were waiters carrying trays of decadent hors d'oeuvres and gentle music filled the house. It was a beautiful, extravagant party and it was way too much for me.

“Kim, you really didn’t have to do all of this for me,” I insisted. “By which I mean, you shouldn’t have done all of this.”

“Theadora Linda Donnelly,” she said with her hands on her hips. “You are my best friend in the world and you are moving an ocean away. This is quite literally the least I could do to celebrate your big move and send you off in style!”

“You’re just making sure you get an invitation to visit in France,” I teased. “You know I’m not moving to Paris, right?”

Tahir lived in the countryside, which was honestly a relief. I wasn’t sure that I would be able to handle a city as big as Paris.
