Mia moves a few things on her new desk, shifting a stack of papers to the side so she can adjust a glass paperweight she bought that’s shaped like a cat. It’s been so long since Mia’s actually felt like she’s doing something she’s supposed to be doing, that she’s a little overwhelmed by the reality of it.
They asked her to start the same week, and after a short introductory phase, Mia starts to feel confident that she knows what is expected of her. She’s yet to meet anyone who hates the sight of her, nor has she made out with anyone in the copy room, so she’s already feeling much more stable.
Sure, things are more boring, but all boring means is that Mia’s actually safe for the first time in what feels like forever. Not to mention, Mia limits the boring part of her life just to work; she’s been going out with Louise almost every night. They’ve really bonded recently, especially since they work in the same building.
