Chapter 36 : The Beginning of a War

*Rafe’s POV*

It took one call for the world to come tumbling down and for war to be inevitable. I thought I understood what people meant when they said the rage overtook them, that they got too angry. I didn’t know I could feel anger to such a degree.

Lila and I were having lunch in my office. For once, she wasn’t tense or worried about something—or the person who stressed her out.

Then the boarder patrol called to tell me that the guards who were supposed to be following Luna and Mia were dead; their car crashed and that it wasn’t an accident.

Luna didn’t pick up her phone when I called and neither did Mia. Even Lila tried to call them, terrified, but I could offer no reassurances for the situation.

By then, it was on the news.
