"Hey newbie! You here to get your weapon?"
As soon as Vann entered, a middle age guy with short brown hair with a muscular build walked up to him and asked with a smile.
"Uhm yeah. The angel said that I can get my first weapon here?" Vann asked awkwardly.
Seeing Vann awkwardness, the man smiled as he offered his hand. "No need to feel pressure boy. Everyone here is pretty chill so you can just act like yourself. Anyways, the name's Mike."
Vann smiled as he appreciated the man's behavior very much. Despite being an introvert, he wouldn't shy to having small talks especially if the other person is being friendly while also not being too pushy about it.
So Vann shook the man's hand and said. "I'll keep that in mind. I'm Vex by the way."
Mike smiled. "Good name. Back to your question, the answer is yes. In fact, let's go now to the back so you can pick your weapon. You can ask questions along the way."
As they started walking to the back of the building, Vann asked. "Do you know the reason why they didn't just give us a weapon directly?"
In response, Mike shrugged his shoulders. "Who knows. The angels didn't tell us anything about that. They just said to provide the players with basic weapons when you are just starting out. But I do have a guess though."
Mike paused before continuing. "One is so that players can choose the weapon that they like since it will be more convenient for them. Of course that is not to say that the angels can't just manifest the weapon of their liking so that is most likely not the case. My 2nd guess is that this is a way for us to help you get accustomed quickly to how things work in our world. Since you guys are basically forced to go in your respective class buildings, you will inevitably need our help which the angels have told us to do so even if just a little bit. So that's my two guesses. No matter the reason though, it's all good in the end."
"Well I guess that's true." Vex nodded in agreement.
Vann looked around for a moment and saw many players heading in the same direction. Meanwhile, only a few of these players are being lead by NPCs, the same situation as to what's happening to Vann. This made him confused but he didn't ask another question as he quietly followed Mike.
However, Mike noticed Vann's confused expression and he could immediately tell what was going on in Vann's mind. So he asked. "Are you wondering why some of the players are being lead by people in the guild while most of them are alone?"
"Yes." Vann was surpised as he didn't expect to be seen through but since Mike already initiated it he nodded.
A grin appeared on Mike's face. "Well if I have to guess, those guys saw something interesting in those players that's why they want to form connections with them quickly. And before you ask, I also found you interesting that's why I approached you."
"I'm interesting?" Vann felt confused as he was unable to find what's interesting about him.
Instead of answering, Mike questioned him. "You split your attribute points rather evenly right?"
The moment he heard that, Vann's eyebrows rose in surprise as he thought of something.
Mike who saw that smirked. "What you did is correct. Honestly, I found it confusing why there are so many dumb players that put all of their points into one or two attributes. Maybe it's because of your special situation? Whatever the case, what they did is a huge mistake. Which brings me to find you interesting. Can you tell my why did you split your points like that? I'm quite curious."
"Well... it may be hard to believe but it's because of my instincts." Vann said.
Mike stopped in surprised as he looked back to Vann before laughing. "What sharp instincts you have. I see now."
After he stopped laughing, Mike explained. "Well I guess you want answers right? This is because the attributes aren't just simple made up numbers that affects how well is your performance in certain things. They are the representation of every living beings' existence. And in every living being's existence, balance is of the utmost importance. For example, what would happen to someone with high amounts of energy but they have a weak body?"
"They'll explode or something? And also you can see their status?" Vann asked in realization.
Mike nodded. "Well that should be the case but I don't know why some of the players that I saw didn't explode already. I guess the system is protecting them. For the second question though, no I don't see status. Only an individual can see their own status unless they allow others to see it too. As to why I know how they split up their points, I can sense it. In fact, so long as you get stronger, you'll learn to sense things like this too."
Mike stopped speaking as they finally reached a big area where there are hundreds of weapons placed on the tables, hanged on the walls or inside wooden boxes. There are nearly a dozen types of weapon, with some examples being a sword, spear, axe, hammers, sickle and so much more.
"Anyways here we are. Feel free to look around and ask questions anytime." Mike said as he stepped aside.
Before going, Vann asked. "Is it ok to pick two since I plan to use one-handed weapons?"
Mike nodded. "Yeah no problem at all."
With his worries answered, Vann started looking while admiring the sight of the weapons around him. He walked around the place, feeling and grasping each weapons he saw as his excitement grew more and more. Besides Vann, there are also other players who are looking for their weapon, making the place quite rowdy.
Finally after a few minutes of looking around, Vann finally took two things after a long contemplation of what kind of build that he wants to make in the future.
Meanwhile, Mike's brows raised in surprise when he saw what Vann took.
A sword and shield.
