Have We Met Before?

"How can he substitute a mute for a bride...? How will a mute have a good relationship with my son who has lost his sight for so many years...? I need a woman with a voice, a woman who can protect and help him heal.

How would a mute woman be able to have a control over his temper...? Lucian needs eyes and legs not someone who can't speak a word or even defend herself. Why did Raymond go back on his words ...?" the man continue to mutter under his breath but Nilsa heard his every word, she didn't flinched or look offended by his blatant words, she's used to it anyways.

"I told you Kathrine wouldn't agree this marriage but you insisted on marrying her to your son when you knew his condition. A lot of young women has rejected him many times already but you just wouldn't listen. Now look what happened.

It is okay if Kathrine refused to marry him but using another woman as a substitute is another thing, we don't even know if she's Raymond's daughter or not because I only know of his two children not three," the middle age woman added with a little bit of frustration in her voice.

The middle age man felt distress hearing his wife's words, he massaged his aching temple in silence, whiles all this was going on no one noticed the complicated look in the butler's gaze as he listened to their words quietly, he doesn't know this young lady but he felt like a knife was piercing his heart with their every word. He doesn't know why he's feeling distress for this young lady but the person in question looks calm and steady as always, sighing deeply, he shook his head in disbelief by her behavior.

"She truly is special" he thought with amusement whiles giving her a side glance " how interesting " he added inwardly.

The older man who has been quite since she arrived got up and slowly walked towards her, he took her hands gently into his when he was a feet away from her whiles the others present there looked on with bewilderment. He looked at her curiously for sometime before asking calmly.

"Do I know you...? have we met before in the past...?"

Nilsa looked calmly at him for sometime before she shook her head in denial but the old man wouldn't have any of it .

"I know you and I know we've met before but I don't know why you wouldn't want me to know the truth, I hope you come to me to talk soon," he whispered this words quietly to the hearing of only the two of them but the young woman in front of him still looks calm and collected so he doesn't really know if he was mistaking it or not. His instincts have never lied to him so he wasn't bothered because if what he felt was the truth then he knows she will surely not lie for long because she felt so familiar the very moment she walked into the sitting room.

Nilsa looked at the hands holding hers with a lot of emotions brewing in her heart but as usual she was calm like the morning ocean.

"Dad do you know her..?" the middle age man asked the older man looking at their joint hands.

"I don't think it's her. Maybe I'm mistaking her for someone else," he replied letting go of her hands gently.

"How dare that sly Fox make us look like a fool. Does he think he can get away with it after getting the contract....?" the middle age man added with a chilling tone .

Nilsa was shocked by what he said, so her dad had the the contract in his hands but still used her as a stepping stone...?

"Raymond Walker would never change for the better, would he...?" she thought silently.

"Errm George I think it best we send her back to her family, the middle age woman said to her husband while glancing at the young woman with a blank expression.

"We should have accepted the old man's offer. At least his granddaughter is not a mute," she added still trying to get a reaction from Nilsa Walker but was surprised to see her calm and collected .

"She's not going back there. She's staying here as Lucian's wife and I don't want any of you to think of accepting that old man's ridiculous offer," a voice said leaving no room for further argument which got the couple's attention immidiately, it was the older man who spoke.

"But dad she can't help Lucian with anything at all. What would be her use if she were to stay ....?" George said with disagreement coating his tone but the older man wouldn't here any of it, he didn't even bothered looking at him as if whatever his son said was pure nonsense in his view so without replying.. he turned to the butler who has been quite the whole time he brought the girl.

"Show her to her room on the fourth floor so that she can take a shower and get some sleep," the older man said with a voice full of finality .

"Errm, Kane I think you're making your decision without weighing the pros and cons of the situation," the older woman uttered her first words since she came in but there was also an undeniable doubts in her tone which she didn't bother to hide..... but then again the older man didn't want to hear what she has to say because he had look of disbelief written all over his aging face.

"Even you ....?" he asked somehow shocked at what she said.

"Lena... , you know Lucian wouldn't have a chance with any other woman because of his special condition and those who want to marry him are just exploiters so I'm not letting this chance go. He will thank me one day, not only him but all of you," he said with determination.

"And I don't know what have come over you guys but I know this is the right to thing to do. Trust my words," he added muttering the last one to himself but they heard him clearly .

"Take her to her room Micheal," he told the butler again not giving them the chance to protest his decision again.

The butler uttered a "yes chairman " and led her away from the three protesting eyes in the sitting room. A part of him was happy she was staying and it baffles him but he didn't think much of it.

Kane Black kept staring at the disappearing figure of the young woman in silence until she vanished into the elevator, he let out a sigh and turn to his family.

"One day you'll all understand my decision and I hope till then none of you will cross the line when you come across her otherwise Lucian will remain just how he is forever," after saying those words he left them to think about it .

The three people sat there in puzzlement. " Why would he say that and what does Lucian's condition have to do with that girl..?" they asked themselves but didn't bother thinking about his words any further.

They brushed his strange words off carelessly and continue the chat they were having before Nilsa was brought. Not knowing that they will be regretting not listening to what he had said to them that night.

Grandpa Kane went to his study on the second floor and sat on his soft armchair. His study have three tall shelves, one was facing the door and the remaining two were on the left and right side of the first one with a mahogany table place in the middle whiles a round grey coloured soft floor rug was also underneath the table and armchair.

He let out a sigh and sat down, he took his cell phone and dailed a number before he leaned against the chair, the call connected on the second ring.

"Do we have a lead now...?" grandpa Kane asked in a cold tone which sent shivers down the other party's spine.

"No we don't," a young man's voice answered him in a firm voice full of sincerity.

"I think I have something that could help your team," grandpa Kane told him and hung up the call without waiting for his reply .

"I hope am right this time around," he muttered under his breath with a sad smile. No one knows what he's sad about.

Butler Micheal took Nilsa to the first floor, the elevator came to a stop on the fourth floor sitting room. The two people walked out of it and entered into the sitting room.

There was a triangular shaped black and white floor rug laid in the center of the sitting room which had a red love seat placed on it and two double grey leather couches placed on each side of the loveseat with a round glass tea table in the middle of it.

The large glass windows were slide opened and the white curtains hanging on it were moved and tied aside for fresh air to penetrate through the windows, a large flat screen TV hanged on the wall facing where the couches and loveseat were arranged.

"How warm....." she thought in her heart.
