THE FUN CONTINUES (7)

DAY FOUR (4)

So finally, today is one of the days that couples look forward to and singles hate. Do you want to know why? It's simple because you have to sponsor yourself. It's the all too famous Cinema night where couples get to show off, and singles have to tag along quietly. On this day, tickets are sold, and if you happen to be a couple, you are free from the stress of getting tickets for the show, primarily if your boyfriend is affiliated with one of the heads of ENTERCOM. And you know what that means, right?

(a/n: the ENTERCOM here stands for the entertainment committee. Every high school in my Country has one. Has their name suggested they are in charge of entertainment and recreational stuff? ENTERCOM brings the SRC week celebration in collaboration with the SRC committee.)

But the movie isn't yet started, so Fei and Mimi are just hanging around the class and having random chats here and there and for once, Lander isn't here, so Fei has Mimi all to herself.

' So, what are your plans for today? Will Lander be able to get you guys free tickets? Oh! How I wish someone would get me a ticket for free.' Fei said.

' You know you can get one, right, just tell a guy you will be the girlfriend for only today and that he can do whatever he wants, but after the movies, it's over between you guys. ' Mimi suggested.

' Like, are you for real, Mimi? How do your brain cells work anyway? ' Fei said.

' Hey! It's just a suggestion. I'm trying to help here. ' Mimi said back.

' How the hell is this a solution, huh? It's practically prostitution, you know. Are you suggesting I sell myself for 7 Cedis tickets just because I want someone to buy them for me for free? ' Fei said

' Stop twisting my intentions, and don't ask me for a solution if you aren't going to like my ideas, geez. ' Mimi said. It isn't that I can't afford a ticket is just that I don't want to sit alone while these lovebirds rub their love in my face.

It was finally 5 pm, and we were getting ready to go to the venue for the movie show at the assembly hall. Students were swarming at the entrance, which was a spectacular scene. Stamps were being placed on our hands to indicate that you have paid; without the symbols, we would be denied entrance, and we would have to buy another ticket if we still wanted to watch the movie. We watched two sets of films that night: the genre of Mystery Horror and Romance Action. We entered and were seated in the middle, not too close or far from the screen. I wanted to hear everything. And as usual, the lovebirds are placed on my right side and enclosed in their bubble. People were filling in gradually; finally, it was time to begin the movie. I have my popcorn & strawberry juice ready to start the action. What was being shown was titled ' The Nun', an hour and 45 min movie. As the movie progressed, so was whatever between the lovebirds also moved, and at some point in time, I wondered if they even watched the film at all; seriously, Mimi was giggling throughout the whole movie, which is questionable because the movie was themed on horror so it was scary and had no comic scene so what the fuck was, she giggling about then. Finally, the film was over, and a short break was even for us to stretch our legs and prepare for the next one.

' So, Mimi, how did you find the movie.' Fei asked.

' Oh! It was good. It was very nice too. What about you?' Mimi answered.

' Really, that's all you could say about it, huh? It was fascinating, mysterious, and bloody, which I disliked, but the scary part was not all that scary; some girls were screaming their heads off, and the boys misbehaved back there, turning on & off the lights. ' Fei said.

' Oh really, I didn't take notice. ' Mimi said, smiling. Oh, how will you when all you did was giggle throughout the entire movie? Then Fei thought. She's hopeless.

' I figured as much. You wouldn't because your ears were close to Lander's mouth the entire time, so your attention will never be on the movie.' Fei said, rolling her eyes.

'It wasn't my fault. What he was saying was funny, okay.' Mimi said.

' Yes, how could it be? I wonder what he said to make you completely blackout on your surroundings like that. ' said Fei.

'It was funny okay, and that's all you have to know.' said Mimi. Fei just looked at her with a' is that Mimi ' looked on her face and returned to her seat to wait for the next movie. The next film was interesting, getting everyone's attention except the lovebirds beside me. It was catchy because many of the boys were making noise when certain romantic scenes popped up, and with their corrupted, dirty minds, they behaved the way they did. With the lovebirds lost in their world, the movie came to an end, and it was time to leave still; the lovebirds weren't ready to say their goodbyes just yet, but we also had to leave for our hostel we came in a group, we go as one that was the condition given to us. So finally, they somehow managed to detach from each other, and we left.

DAY FIVE (5)

Yay! Today is the part that I will thoroughly enjoy with or without distraction. And do you want to know what day it is, it's Culture Day. Yes! The day we finally get to showcase our rich and natural culture and explore & experience the many various cultures. This day is so important to me that I wouldn't let those lovebirds steal that away. I had been planning since I heard it was part of the event outline, and finally, it's here. A pageant will follow a play to showcase the various cultures, and the winner who emerges will be crowned the Face of SMARTS. We are on our way to the assembly hall to enjoy the rich play performance by our drama club. As always, I have my popcorn & juice; there's never a drama without a good snack. Yeah, I know what you guys thinking; she loves to eat, right? But of course, food is my only lover. It loves me, and I also love it, period.

Wow, that was indeed a good play. I enjoyed every bit of it and has the curtain closed, I was a sobbing mess (a/n sorry I couldn't elaborate more on the play, I forgot about the space, but all I remember is that it was excellent & sorrowful); now it was time for the pageant, and as I said I wouldn't let anything distract me and I did just that, I treated those lovebirds like they just another ornament beside me. The pageant started with music and dance by our school's cultural troupe, and the showcase of various cultural diversity shown in the dance made it so beautiful.

After the dance, the main show starts with the person representing the Ashanti Region of Ghana. She comes to enlighten us on what a great region it is and its many good qualities of it, and after dancing the famous dance of that region which is the Adowa, the same format runs through the rest of the representatives of the region, which are Greater Accra; they dance Kpanlogo( the capital of Ghana), Western Region; they dance Abuoyor to celebrate the harvest, Eastern Region, also dance the Adwoa & Akom( a/n: because it contains mixed ethnic groups they have a variety of dances, I just mentioned the ones I could recall), Central Region; they dance the Apatampa, Volta Region; they dance the Agbadza, Northern Region; Bamaya dance, Upper East Region; Nagla dance, Upper West Region; Kore dance, Brong-Ahafo Region; Kete dance. It was an educational event, and I learned more about my Country's cultural diversities than I already knew.

After all, the showcase Western Region came; first, Greater Accra came in Second, Volta region came in third, the Eastern region fourth, and three northern towns (northern, upper east and upper west) came in fifth, sixth, and seventh, respectively, Brong-Ahafo came in eight places, central region ninth and Ashanti region tenth place.

' Hey, it's not fair; why did Volta come third.' asked Mimi since she's half Ewe, half GA.

' If only you were paying attention, you'd have known.' Fei said, walking past Mimi. Today was incredible, and I did enjoy myself well; I didn't even glance at those two throughout today, and I'm delighted (laughs). Another day has come to a close, and there's more to come.
