MADNESS & FURY (14)

Lander’s POV

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Mimi wanted to break up with me. She wanted to end our relationship. She wanted to leave me. Why? Why would she do that? Why would she hurt me like this? Why would she throw away everything we had? We had been together for six months. Six months of bliss and happiness. Six months of romance and passion. We shared so many memories and moments. We had laughed and cried and fought and made up. We had kissed and hugged and cuddled and loved. We had been through so much together.

We faced so many challenges and obstacles. We had overcome so many difficulties and problems. We supported each other and helped each other. We had inspired each other and motivated each other. We understood each other and accepted each other. We had been perfect for each other. We had been meant for each other. We loved each other. Or so I thought. She didn't love me anymore. She didn't want me anymore. She didn't need me anymore. She didn't care about me anymore.

She was breaking up with me. She was breaking my heart. She was breaking me. 'You're serious? Do you want to break up with me? Why?' I asked her, hoping she would say it was a mistake, joke, or test. But she didn't. She looked at me with a cold and distant expression. She spoke to me with a harsh and cruel voice. She told me with a harsh and brutal word.

'Because... because...' She hesitated momentarily, finding the right words to explain her reasons. But there were no right words. There were only wrong words. Words that would hurt me more than anything else in the world. Words that would shatter my dreams and hopes. Words that would destroy my faith and trust. Words that would kill my love and soul. 'Lander, because we're not meant for each other.' That was it. That was her reason. That was her excuse.

That was her lie. Were we not meant for each other? How could she say that? How could she think that? How could she believe that? We were meant for each other! We were perfect for each other! We were everything to each other! How could she deny that? How could she ignore that? How could she forget that? I stared at her long, trying to read her mind or soul. I searched for doubt, hesitation, or regret in her eyes, voice, or body language.

But I found none. She was serious. She wanted to break up with me. She didn't love me anymore. And then I snapped. I snapped like a twig under pressure. I snapped like a rope under tension. I snapped like a glass under impact. I snapped like a heart under betrayal. I grabbed my guitar and smashed it against the wall.

I screamed and cursed and cried. I threw things around the room and broke them into pieces. I punched and kicked and hit anything in my way. I went berserk. I lost control. I scared her. She backed away from me, trying to avoid my wrath and violence. I know I shouldn’t behave in this way, but I couldn’t; I couldn’t contain my anger, my hurt and my pain. It was all flowing out.

She looked at Fei, who was frozen on her bed, too shocked and scared to move or speak, not to talk about helping her. I could see Fei trembling and on the verge of tears, even though my anger wasn’t directed at her. I wouldn’t say I liked the look in her eyes. Those were the eyes of a person who was staring at a monster. Mimi looked around the room, looking for a way out, a weapon, or a phone. But there was none. She was trapped in this nightmare situation.

She was trapped with me. The one who loved her more than anything in the world. The one who gave her everything he had. With the one who did everything he could for her. With the one who sang his heart out for her. With the one who wanted to be with her forever. With me, who is now the furious and dangerous beast whose hatred for her resonates with all my soul.
