Chapter 24

"Aureli!" Major zapped as fast as he could, catching her just before she hit the ground, her skin burned in his hands as he held the flames. He ignited his own flames to put the maroon flames out, he ignited and ignited until eventually, the flames were gone. Nox and Asia ran after them. Aureli had bad burns all over the right side of her body. She screamed and cried out in pain, wriggling in agony as Major tried to clutch her as much as he could to stop her from harming herself more. Maris zapped toward them and splashed Aureli with cold water, initially causing her to scream even louder than before, piercing the ears of her squadmate.

From afar Galvinor chuckled, his chuckle turned into an almighty evil laugh. Aureli still screamed in agony. Major used Concussor to knock her out. Her head fell limp and she was completely unconscious. Major carried her in his arms running away as fast as he could to get to safety. He zapped to the nearest medical centre. Another squad was present there.

They looked shocked as they saw Aureli's appearance. "Quick quick, get her over here, get her on the table." One of the squad members signaled Major to hurry up. He placed her down on the table and the other squad doctor started to work on her wounds, she managed to seal the wounds up, they scarred instantly and we're a deep red colour. They were also soft to the touch with bumps all over like scales but much softer. It was safe to touch her now as the wound was healed. 

"Thank god she is safe." Major had a huge breath of relief.

"We're losing her."

"What! But she's healed."

"I know, I know. But the trauma. The trauma and pain of being burned alive is causing her body and mind to shut down. We need a hospital and life support. NOW!" Squads 13 and 99 rushed Aureli to hospital in an ambulance. 

From above, Galvinor created a massive ball of flames in the air, aiming it at the retreating ambulance. His hand was slapped away, causing the ball of fire to disperse. He looked behind him to see Egir, standing there, with hate in his eyes. "Let them go, I'm your opponent now."

"Old man, you have no idea what you're getting into." Galvinor chuckled.

"I know what I'm getting into, believe me." 

The ambulance rushed toward North London to take shelter. In the back of the ambulance, Major was there with Aureli, holding her hand tightly whilst the squad 99 doctor, Marissa was monitoring her vitals and organs, trying to prolong her life as much as possible. "Will she be okay?" Said Major, slowly looking up at Marissa, with a tear in his eye.

"I don't know honey, were doing everything we can. You being here is helping her. She's relaxing now you're here with her." Marissa looked at Major with a sad expression.

Major clutched her hand tighter. "Cmon Aureli, stay with us."

Aureli was brought to a hospital and was immediately admitted to a room with life support and many other medical tools. She was placed on a drip which would monitor her nutrients and bodily function. Major stayed by her the entire time. Not a minute went by when he didn't have her hand clutched in his. Many nurses and doctors came and went throughout the evening, performing checks and tests. Eventually, Major fell asleep, resting on her hospital bed.

Morning came, Nox, Jelly and Maris all turned up to Aureli's room to keep both she and Major company. As you can imagine, Major didn't exactly have the best night sleep, it was an uncomfortable resting position for anyone, yet he also felt strangely secure being with her. He knew he was helping. 

"How is she, Major?" Nox placed his hand on his back to comfort him. Major didn't reply. "Look, I know your hurting. I also know what you're thinking. It should've been you. Who cares man. What happened happened, you need rest or you'll get sick. We all want to be with her all the time, we also know it's not healthy."

"I'm the captain, I'll die for my squad, if illness is the price I need to pay, I'll pay it. As long as she recovers." Major didn't budge.

"I figured you'd say something like that." Nox smiled.

Jelly plodded herself down on the other hospital seat and started stuffing her face with the fruit they had brought for Aureli. Nox and Maris gave her a dirty look.

"What? She can't eat it." Jelly carried on stuffing her face with all types of fruit.

"So Major, whats next, the east has fallen. The North is probably next, and you know that." Nox stood next to him saying this. He knew this was the last thing Major wanted to hear. "You and I both know that you can't sit here next to her forever. What if she doesn't make it?"

Major jumped up and threw Nox at the wall. He punched him in the face, causing him to bleed from the mouth. "You let go of her hand, guess it wasn't so hard after all. You idiot." Major panted heavily and sat back down. Major stared at the floor empty. A knee hit him straight in the jaw causing him to crash over the floor. He too, bled from the mouth.

"That's payback. She will make it you idiot, if you really believed that, you wouldn't be sitting next to her 24/7 like a low life. Cmon Jelly." Jelly hopped up from the seat.

"See ya Major, I left the cherries, I know they're her favourite." Jelly waved goodbye and went out of the room.
