I had been nervous ever since I saw Kyle. I didn't know why, it didn't make sense and everything I had believed had fallen apart.

Kyle was supposed to be the kind of junkie who had no idea about the job, but from what I heard at the academy, he was at the time a consultant for the Welt family, doing his job well and trying hard to move on.

I had seen him on a couple of occasions, it was strange. His stocky build indicated that he wasn't on some kind of drug, so his body wasn't thin like my brother Jon's, and his eyes didn't show dark circles under his eyes or any kind of sleeplessness. I thought, I might go back to the house at some point and try to check on Jon, just to see if they were still hanging out, but I thought, I'd better find myself in my activities.
