Chapter Thirty Five: Investigation.

Princess Jasmine approached Prince Jack's chambers, and the grand doors adorned with carvings swung open as she entered.

Inside, Prince Jack sat at a mahogany desk, his expression somber. He looked up as Jasmine entered, disappointment etched across his face.

"Jasmine," Jack sighed, "I had hoped you could convince Nicholas to free Elizabeth from her servitude. What happened?"

Jasmine took a seat opposite her brother. "Brother, convincing Nicholas is not as easy as it seems. He's just too hard-headed and won't listen."

Jack leaned back in his chair, frustration evident in his voice. "But Elizabeth deserves better. She shouldn't be confined to a life of servitude. She deserves to be with me."

Jasmine hesitated before speaking, "And this is exactly how I feel about Author. Why can't I get married to him? Father could just elevate his status back to a Prince."

Jack nodded thoughtfully. "You're right."
