Shadow Spectre: 50 feet away.

"No, I can't fall asleep," I kept reminding myself. But, as though fate had other plans for me, as though it was taunting me, as though it had plans of death for me, my eyes were closing slowly, even already closed.

This was a battle between rest and survival, for I knew that if I took this chance and listened to my pathetic mind to rest, then I wouldn't even know when I would die.

Sleeping without vigilance in the Apocalyptic Era is the same thing as courting death.

"Aggh," I bit downwards with immense force applied on my bite. The intense pain from my lips and the blood that smeared my lips woke me up from my terrifying fate of going into slumber, for I knew that if I slept, my chances of survival were very low.

I knew that I had been badly injured. I didn't know what to do; my mind was racing with thoughts. "I can't die, I can't die. Not now, not ever." I hadn't thought the injury I had from the explosion would be that intense. It felt as though my bones had been broken.

Different and various thoughts swirled in my mind as I tried to find a way out for myself. As a act of survival, I had to survive, and I will surely survive no matter the cost.

I suddenly remembered, "the core of the Shadow Spectre. Yeah, I still have the core of the Shadow Spectre." I raised my head with difficulty, and as I had expected, lying 50 feet away was the core of the Shadow Spectre.

As for why I didn't see the Shadow Spectre, I knew without a doubt that it should have been burnt to death, and I couldn't be bothered to think about that.

Fifty feet; for my normal body, that is nothing but child's play. Even a toddler could crawl to such a distance. But right now, I doubt I can even crawl more than 10 feet, even if I used all my strength. "Think, think. There must be a way," I murmured as I remembered that I had to survive at all costs.

"Wait, don't I have 1 flexibility point." "System, add one flexibility point to my status." "1 point has been added to your Flexibility point." "Your current flexibility point is 2.2." "System, I don't get it. 2.2? If I had calculated correctly, then my flexibility point should be at 2.0, adding one point to it should have made it become 2.1 flexibility points, not 2.2." The system didn't reply to me.

"Well, I guess I shouldn't even bother about such a thing in this kind of moment. At least it is to my benefit."

With this thought in mind, I made my way crawling towards the Shadow Spectre's Core. Three feet, five feet, seven feet, ten feet, fifteen feet. With every foot that I had traversed, I felt as though all my body was being stressed to its limits, my bones were very weak, almost to the point of breaking.

But I knew I had to continue, for this was my only shot at survival. I gritted my teeth and bit on my lips as I motivated myself to keep going. "For if I should or dare to stop now, I might by luck or by fate's decree be able to survive this incident, but what about the next one, what about the next one to come? Will I always give up and wait for fate or luck to come and save me? Of course, that wasn't possible, and I wouldn't place my life in the hands of fate or luck."

With the taste of blood in my mouth, telling myself I would die, I would never be able to survive in such a world and era without having great willpower or tenacity, without having all this.

"What resolution, what confidence does one have to be able to survive in such a world?" So if his willpower wouldn't even withstand such a state, then he was better off dead. But it was easier said than done, which I also knew since the shockwave of the explosion had made it feel as though all my bones were broken, as though my internal organs had been damaged.

But I couldn't afford to give up; I continued crawling. With every crawl that I had taken, blood would smear the ground that I had passed, which I knew wouldn't be good, but at such a state, I couldn't be bothered if I was inviting a predator or creature.

All that was in my mind was the dark green luminescent core that shone with a bizarre dark and green light, which I didn't find weird; I couldn't even bother to care if it was weird or not. Thirty-five feet, forty feet, forty-three feet. With every step that I had taken, with every step that sent me closer to my chance of survival, so did it also seem to send me to death's door. As I knew that the possibility of me being able to reach the 50th foot was very tough, for I was basically at my limits, and I was only at the 45th foot. I couldn't accept such kind of fate.

"Aargh," I shouted out, with immense and unseen force propelling me forward. I felt as though I had an unknown force deep within me.

I knew this feeling too well; this was the feeling of being able to excavate the hidden potential in you. For this wasn't the first time I had achieved such a state.

It had also happened on my first day having a race, a race of dignity. "I had to win; my emotions were widely agitated, resulting in me being made to enter such a state."

Since it wasn't really that special, apart from that it could only be changed upon by luck, I couldn't be bothered to think about how I had awakened such a state, but one thing was for sure and certain now.

"The ability to enter such a state has to do with greatly stimulating and aggregating physical and emotional feelings." "Well, I guess," I murmured as I finally reached the Shadow Spectre's Core. "That had brightened up the room with its luminescent weird light." "Finally, I have the core," I said as I made my way to throw it into my mouth.
