Chapter 43 : Safe at Carrington Ranch

I waved back at Lucas and hurried to get into the house and out of the cold.

“Come on, Ethan. If you keep standing there, you’re going to turn into a popsicle.”

He moved forward, following me up onto the porch. We stopped at the boot scraper and dragged our soles across it to clear off as much snow as possible.

No point in tracking snow inside of Lucas’ home. No, not just Lucas’s home. My home, too. And Oliver’s. I keep forgetting that.

Lucas greeted me with a great big bear hug. I sighed into his chest, rubbing my face all over him.

“Oh, my god, you’re so warm.”

“And you’re so cold. What the hell happened to you?”

“We got stuck in the snow.”

Oliver winced as he joined us from the living room. Dottie trailed at his heels, her toenails clicking on the floor.

“Aw man, that sucks. You could have called me, and I’d have used the Jeep’s winch to get you out.”

“It’s all right. Dr. Ethan had a clever idea.”

Ethan scratched behind his head.
