The Alpha's Mate | Pt.1

The surroundings were filled with noisy chattering and constant movements. Tora found herself lying down somewhere with eyelids too heavy to move. Her head ached like it was hit by something hard.

"Ugh..." The pulsation and throbbing caused her to groan softly, this made the noisy surroundings quiet down immediately. Her hands attempted to reach for her head but that failed as well.

"Don't touch your head, Sweetie," said a soft voice in a coaxing manner. Her hands as equally soft were now caressing Tora's in a comforting manner. "Get the nurse! Quick!"

Sounds of foot ruffling in and out of the room was causing her head to ache even more. "Shut up, please." Thankfully after saying that, the room became silent again until a couple of nurses rushed in.

"How are you feeling, Miss Hallie? Are you capable of opening your eyes for a quick checkup?" The nurse's voice was a bit too sharp and cheery for Tora.

Hallie? Who the fuck is Hallie? My nose itches from all these terrible smells. Perhaps, a dream?

"Please, be quick. I really want to go back to sleep." Tora decided that it was best to comply and quickly get this done.

Her eyes struggled to open only to flinch shut at the bright lights from the ceiling. Her eyes squinted shut and blinked profusely until it became wet. The nurse gently encouraged her along with the lady with a soft voice.

Her attempt at it this time went a lot smoother than the first, but she almost instinctively shut her eyes from the intense pain looming around her head.

The nurse did some sensory and vision tests, which thankfully, came back as normal with slight irritation only. The issue was now whatever was causing her head to ache. The nurse asked her partner to hold me down as a precaution and started unwrapping some bandages around Tora's head.

Although it felt weird, her body remained still. It seemed that the nurse holding her down was doing something pointless. Her eyes closed as she waited patiently for the nurse to wrap the bandages back, but instead, the pressure of the grip was suddenly stronger. She was just about to open her eyes to see what was going on but they closed shut instantly.

Her body jerked and her muscles clenched. She felt a pair of rubbered hands pushed around a certain area causing pain to spread until her whole head felt numb.

"Hmm...The tissues look fine and the overall feeling is good. Motor skills and reactions are great. Other than a slight scaring, everything should heal up just fine. I'll give a prescription and the Young Miss can head on home after an hour of rest."

Tora felt this voice to be familiar and her eyes shot open. A man in a hospital uniform was currently removing his gloves and tossing them in the trash next to the bed she was on. Their eyes met and he smiled. Although it seemed like a friendly smile, Tora could sense slight humor in them.

The smile made her whole body feel the tingle that comes from numbness. She felt a shiver crawl up her back to the nape of her neck.

"Fucking Asier!" Her mouth shouted these two words that she had become so used to uncontrollably. Anger rushed straight to her head and she soon felt faint.

Everyone was left speechless at the sudden outburst of random cursing. Their eyes could only wander awkwardly toward the doctor standing there.

"Uh..this...please, don't mind this doctor. She's a soft-spoken child. Something like this must be because of the injury." The lady nearby quickly tried to fix the awkward atmosphere.

"Heh!" The sound of a chuckle came and disappeared so quickly that everyone thought they heard wrong. The Doctor had a hand covering his mouth as he turned his body towards the patient's family members. "It's my first time seeing someone faint from being angry. This is quite..." His hand came down and his smile filled the room with a weird sense of enchantment that made everyone focus on him.

"Will my daughter really be fine, Doctor? The scar you mentioned, is there a way to prevent that?" A gentleman equally charismatic chimed in to defuse this atmosphere. His voice awoke everyone from that spell.

"Ah yes...Like I said earlier, she's completely fine. Oh! right, no strenuous activities for 14 days." He looked back one more time at the patient on the bed who was now being tended to by the nurses. "About the scars...it shouldn't be noticeable if she styled her hair a certain way. Other than that, you can try seeing a dermatologist if you need it removed."

"Thank you so much. I will invite you and the Hill's over for a meal as an apology." The man shook hands with the Doctor and saw him out. He sighed and gave orders to let his daughter rest in peace alone for the remaining hour.

Tora slowly came to a few minutes later. She bit her lips feeling so upset that the muscles in her stomach started to cramp. She felt a piece of paper fall on her face and quickly opened her eyes.

'To think that you would faint. LOL'

She shoved that piece of paper straight in her mouth and chewed it aggressively The feeling of it slowly disappearing was making her skin crawl.

She felt something heavy against her chest. A book had magically appeared there. She didn't dare grab and read it for fear that she would faint from anger again.

To think that I would be transported in this embarrassment of a world...

Another piece of paper came floating down on her face.

'I thought everyone loved this type of story. I made sure to sprinkle in a bit of tropes.'

Yeah. No. Let's just go ahead and jump off a bridge.

The text changed on the piece of paper, this time making her groan in frustration.

'It wouldn't matter if you wanna try jumping, other than being very HURT, you wouldn't die unless I allow it.'

"Fine. Now shut the fuck up." She felt anger surge in her heart again. She had wondered why Asier would send a message that same day out of the blue after ghosting her for five years.

I'm gonna kill you one of these days! Dragging me into another story like this is very—! Calm down, your head hurts so you have to take it easy, Tora.

Picked up the novel on her chest, her hands instinctively almost ripping it apart from just the title alone. 'The Alpha's Mate.'

She bit her lips trying to calm down the anger, her hands slowly opened the book. The more she read the more her throat tightened and her stomach swirled. She felt herself gagging constantly and nearly vomited blood and guts from the pent-up frustration.

"Ethan got a swift of that sweet scent, making his eyes turn red and his head filled with filthy desires. "That Omega is mine!" screamed his inner thoughts as he gave in to the soft touches and seductive eyes of the person hugging him. Their bodies mingled and I'm about to kill myself—!" Tora closed the novel, got up walking straight to the window, and attempted to jump out of it. "Yep, death is the only option in this GOD AWFUL WORLD."

Although she wanted so badly to jump, she was secretly fearing that what Asier said earlier would come true. So instead, Tora slowly tore off each page and folded them into paper planes. Her hands threw them out the window as a soft, gentle, nun-like smile spread across her lips.

'What are you doing?' A piece of paper appeared in her hands again, she also threw it out the window.

"Returning the poor, manufactured trees back to the ground where it belongs." Her smile never faltered.

"Aren't you enjoying this too much?" The hair on her neck stood up instantly, sending a chill down her spine. The amused voice whispered gently in her ears, making them all itchy.

Her neck shrunk, and her hands instinctively reached up to cover her ears, while her body spun around only to see the emptiness of the room.

"What the fuck....?" That weird sensation left her whole body shivering slightly from the goosebumps.

'I didn't think you would be that scared.' Tora didn't know what to do with the message on the paper. Before she could process it, the paper quickly dissipated.

"You seem to be having fun, Miss Hallie Moore." That stupid grin she saw earlier had returned. The door closed gently behind him as he leaned against the wall staring. "It's illegal to litter."

"You mean this?" Her hands waved the half-torn book around. For some strange reason, her body felt calm and at ease again. "You mean...like this?" She threw the book out the window and shrugged.

"Heh, you can head on home."
