Chapter six

The queen, as much of a better world dreamer he was? The mornings were never a blessing to him but, strangely that day he was so happy and energetic when it got morning with somebody's warmth and light breathing beside him. He wasn't alone for the first time in his life.

The bedroom didn't feel like a tomb that day. He felt alive.

"Morning sunshine" Heard the queen, the second he woke up from his deep sleep and found the king seated at the first prince's dresser looking back at him domineeringly, "You look like shit in the morning with your stubble"

"Aaron! Why are you here?" Questioned the queen alarmed, holding the blanket tightly to his body in defense making the first prince stir from his sleep.

"I'm starting to feel like that's our secret little romantic catchphrase" Said the king walking towards the bed, "I hope you don't mind me responding to it"

"You are crazy!" Said the queen moving away from the king

"yeah, it's really nothing special once you get to know me" Replied the king who sat on the side where the queen was and continued to stare at him thoughtfully. It was like he was pitying the guy.

"What?" Asked the queen anxiously

"Do you hate putting up a front?" Asked the king as a thought after a long pause between them making it hard for the queen to contain his laugh at that absurdity. He wasn't born an actor in that vast theater for nothing. Let alone a front he can stay in character for years without having the need of reminding himself of the script. Pretense is a natural reaction to him. An extension to his none existence character.

"You think I'm funny, my queen?" Questioned the king seriously with a hint of anger

"I think it's still too early for us to play house, don't you think?" Said the queen while stretching awkwardly making the king thirsty, if the gulp gave anything away.

"Third Uncle" Mumbled the boy in his sleep before stirring and opening his eyes, "You are still here"

"He was just about to leave" Replied the king instead hating how close the kid was to the queen. It was unreasonable but it did irritate him.

"And go where?" Asked the queen cautiously but the first was all smiles to them, "Thank you my queen_"

"He's mine" Interrupted the king as a matter of facts.

"_ for last night and a name" Finished off the prince with a bow the queen's way confusing the king, "What name?"

"Kristof!" Replied the boy energetically before stretching his hand to the king, "Hi, my name is first prince Kristof Bennoes"

"That's a mouthful" Said the king dismissively before dragging the queen out of the bed forcefully, "What the hell is wrong with you?" cried the queen.

"Listen… We are at war and as much as I don't trust you, I need an ally on the throne"

"What war?"

"Really?" Asked the king dryly.

"Yes, really. The kingdom still suffers from the aftermath of our war and now you want to fight another kingdom with our recuperating soldiers? Why?" Questioned the queen who was bewildered.

"Listen smart mouth, I got no time to explain myself to you… Im the commanding general, the king to this kingdom and your husband!... I. am, not. Gonna let another soul tarnish my reputation, okay?" Threatened the king as he was strangling the king silly.

"I'm sorry" Whimpered the queen in a wheeze

"No, you are not but I'm feeling generous today" Said the king after letting the queen go, "And my family is going to reside here from tomorrow onwards"

"What? Your family?"

"And I expect you to treat them as royals"

"You cant be serious"

"And another thing..." Trailed off the king before meeting the queen's eyes, "They should learn about you being a man"

"What?!"
