Chapter 89: My Master is Weak

A gigantic black hairy spider with six legs and eight round eyes stood confidently before the group of five.

On its back were unique red patterns that were arranged beautifully.

If Lu Zheng was here, he would recognise the beast as a Red-Striped Divine Spider.

From the moment Red-Striped Divine Spiders were born, they would be at rank two. They would have two legs to symbolise their rank.

The higher their rank, the more legs they would have.

The height of those legs also determined their level of battle strength.

From one foot to three feet in height meant first tier battle strength. Four to six feet meant second tier and seven to nine meant third tier battle strength.

After the Red-Striped Divine Spider brokethrough to the next rank, its legs would shorten, providing nutrients for a new leg.

The Red-Striped Divine Spider that stood before Themur and the others had six long legs that were all eight feet tall.

This meant that its battle strength was comparable to that of a third tier of Void Passage realm martial practitioner.

Despite the fact that their group consisted of first rate Sky realm experts and rank five beasts, their battle strength was meaningless before the spider.

"Run!" Sanchez gave the order without hesitation.

Before he could even complete the word, the group had already dispersed.

"Hehehe. You think you can escape?" The spider had a shrill voice that would evoke tears from any child.

The five suddenly noticed their speed decreasing before they were confined to a spot.

"Tehehe" The five soon noticed many silk-like threads that bound them.

Initially, the threads were invisible but after a few breaths of time, they became visible to everyone.

The group of five was horrified.

"When did these webs bind us?"

This was the question that formed in the minds of all of them.

"Haaa!" A Blazing Hound by the name Lamber began to roar.

His aura rose as majestic golden flames erupted from his golden fur.

Like on cue, the rest did the same thing as Lamber. They would burn the webs.

"Don't struggle in futility" The Red-Striped Divine Spider said coldly.

After a short while, their auras fell and the webs remained unscathed.

The silk-like webs constricted even more, tearing their skin and causing blood to pour.

"That's your punishment" The Red-Striped Divine Spider proceeded to wrap the group of five into a ball of silk which it carried on its back as it went back underground.

…..

In the morning sky, a man garbed in a red robe drifted through.

He had long black hair that reached his waist and jade-like skin. His pupils seemed to contain the bottomless abyss.

He was naturally Lu Zheng.

He had just received information that Themur had left with a group to Dying Flame Purgatory and was swiftly flying to the desert.

Ever since he reached the shores of North America, he had been feeling a vague sense of premonition but didn't know why.

He felt that this feeling of premonition was related to Themur since they were connected by a beast contract.

Using the beast contract, Lu Zheng planned to find Themur.

…..

A nameless cave, Dying Flame Purgatory

This cave was very large, equal to the size of six football fields. Numerous firestones were fixed in its walls, providing good lighting to the cave.

The firestones were all rank seven fire path materials and contained fire Qi equivalent to that of an Acquisition realm expert!

In this cave, hundreds of Red-Striped Divine Spiders crawled like an unending sea of black and red.

Most of these Red-Striped Divine Spiders had two legs. A few had three and above and two had six legs.

To the foremost northern section of the cave was a large silk-like web on which five people were confined.

There were two humans, a Purple Flame Lion, a Blazing Hound and a Flowing Ash Monkey. They were all at the peak of Sky realm or at rank five.

The three beasts had reverted to their smaller versions and were unable to return to their normal sizes.

The two rank six Red-Striped Divine Spiders were also on another part of this large web.

It seemed as if the web was extracting the human Qi [1] of those five and feeding it to the two rank six beasts.

No matter how fiercely they struggled, the five remained confined.

Among them, the Purple Flame Lion suddenly smiled before its expression became sour.

"What is it?" The Flowing Ash Monkey transmitted her voice using her soul consciousness.

"My master… he is near" Themur replied.

"That's great news! We're saved! Why are you so down?" The Flowing Ash Monkey transmitted again.

Themur gritted his teeth before replying: "He's only at the second tier of Sky realm"

This was an embarrassing matter to Themur. How could his master have the same cultivation base as him?

Even the Flowing Ash Monkey stopped her jubilation.

The Red-Striped Divine Spider that captured them had battle strength equivalent to that of a third tier of Void Passage realm martial practitioner and the other spider had six legs that were nine feet long.

How could a measly second tier of Sky realm martial practitioner save them?

[1] Human Qi is one of the three fundamental Qi; heaven Qi, earth Qi and human Qi. It is the total sum of a person's experiences, battle strength, cultivation, luck, talent etc. and no, it is not only for humans.
