Chapter One Hundred & Sixty Four: A Newborn

Pete was soaked in his sweat by the time he was able to see the baby's head. At least he had made some significant progress but he swore he would never attempt to deliver another baby in his life if he could avoid it. Not only was he soaked in his own sweat but he had visible scratch marks courtesy of Myrtle and his entire generation had been insulted by Myrtle. He had been stupid enough to mention that it was also her generation she was cursing but that had only rewarded him with a slap.

"Push, just one more time with all your strength," urged Myrtle. He could see the head and so if she pushed one more time, the baby would slip into his hands.

"You've been saying that for hours now, you liar!" she screamed but she did push and seconds later amidst the gunshots the cry of their newborn filled the room.
