Chapter - 77 - Shameless

Yi Minghuan could vaguely hear the sound of sobbing coming from Tang Li. He turned his head and saw her head bowed, unable to discern her expression. He asked with uncertainty, "Are you crying?"

"...No," Tang Li quickly raised her hand to wipe away her tears and mumbled her reply.

Yi Minghuan, sure that she had been crying, turned back to face the road and spoke softly, "You can come back often. They are also very reluctant to part with you."

He had observed the warmth of family affection in others but had never experienced it himself. A touch of envy crossed his face as he pondered what it felt like.

"Hey, are you suggesting that they are only treating me good and not you?" Tang Li playfully poked him in the back.

"I don't think so. They genuinely care about you, and it's only right to show them respect," Yi Minghuan replied earnestly, momentarily freezing when she poked him. His expression displayed a touch of helplessness.

"Thank you, that's very kind of you," Tang Li said, her emotions still running high.

This was the first time she had truly experienced this kind of kinship. When she had reviewed the original owner's memories, she couldn't understand or feel the depth of her family's affection, and had even believed that the original owner's parents had let her down.

But after being in their presence, feeling their care and guilt, and witnessing her younger brother's dependence on her, she had come to understand the warmth and significance of family affection.

This newfound understanding filled her with a sense of reluctance and a strong desire to treat her family well.

As they returned to the village, they arrived just in time for the end of the workday in the fields. The streets were crowded with people carrying their farming tools home in pairs and groups. Many of them greeted Tang Li and Yi Minghuan, asking about their day.

Tang Li began to feel a bit annoyed by the repetitive questions and sensed that she and Yi Minghuan attracted a lot of attention. She decided to step off the backseat and said to him, "Go return the car. I'll walk home."

Yi Minghuan nodded and was about to ride off on his bicycle, but at that moment, someone called out to them from behind, "Hey, Tang Li! Yi Minghuan!"

Tang Li and Yi Minghuan turned around to find that it was Xiao Ru who had called out, accompanied by two men and one women—educated youths who had joined the commune with her. A total of four people.

One of them, was a bespectacled man in a white shirt with fair skin and a scholarly appearance.

Tang Li guessed that this was Mo Jing, the person the original owner had been obsessed with but had been unable to get information from her memories about his face.

"Tang Li, did you just return from your mother's house?" Xiao Ru asked, subtly glancing at Yi Minghuan.

Noticing that he wasn't looking at her, Xiao Ru felt a tinge of anger. She had deliberately called his name earlier, but he hadn't shown any interest.

"Yes," Tang Li confirmed. "Xiao'ru, why did you call us over? Minghuan is going to return the bicycle. If you have something to say, let's hear it quickly."

Xiao Ru giggled and batted her eyelashes as she said, "You're my good friend, so I can't help but ask. I want to know if Yi Minghuan is treating you well. I heard you two have been separated, and you haven't received any support."

Xiao Ru said and deliberately looked at Yi Minghuan with a charming face, and joked with a smile.

"What's the deal, Yi Minghuan? How are you taking care of our Tang Li?"

Yi Minghuan frowned, without giving her any face and replied sternly, "This is none of your business and our separating from the family has nothing to do with you."

"Tang Li, look at him! He's so blunt!" Xiao Ru exclaimed, blushing from anger. She turned to Tang Li and pouted, "Every time I talk to him, it's like lighting a fuse. You have to keep an eye on him."

Tang Li, "..." What the hell!

Tang Li could hardly believe her ears. She thought to herself, "You're flirting with my man right in front of me under the guise of caring about me, and now you're complaining that he's too short-tempered. What's going on in that head of yours!".....
