Chapter 5

Maddie

I started going home with Ken and Claudia after we reconciled. I hated being the third wheel and having to watch Ken be lovey-dovey to Claudia drove me nuts. 'Hey, when is Ken knocking off from his practice?' I asked Claudia as I got in the car, she had her head down with a phone in her hand. She didn't even take her eyes off her phone. 'Claudia, hello!' I waved my hand at her to get her attention, still she didn't respond nor react. I snatched the phone from her, this time she looked at me. A tear fell of her eye. 'What's going on Claudia, why are you crying?' She bleakly looked at me unable to say anything. 'Say something please.' She looked away and her crying increased. The phone was unlocked so I decided to go through it, maybe I will find why my best friend was crying.

'I am going to murder Ken.' I threw the phone on the seat and as I was about to get out of the car, Claudia pulled me back. 'Let me go Claudia.' 'No Maddie, you are not gonna do anything.' 'Why, he is cheating on you Claudia.' 'We are not sure about it so let's not rush into conclusions.' Did she just say I am rushing into conclusions, the chats on his phone clearly shows he is cheating, what more proof does she need to be sure that Ken is cheating on her. 'I warned Ken that if he does anything that makes you cry I will not spare him, so let me go.' I can't believe this, just two months ago he promised me he wouldn't hurt Claudia. 'Let me talk to him first, we are not saying anything about this to him until I talk to him, please Maddie.'

Claudia

As I waited in the car for Maddie and Ken in the car I got bored. Ken had left his gym back in the back seat so I decided to look through it, I don't know why I did but now I regret it. 'Oh! I always wanted this put on this football jacket.' I muttered to myself. I took out his jacket and tried it on, I placed my hands in the pockets. I felt a cellphone on the other pocket, I took it out and the screen immediately turned on. 'No Claudia, it's wrong to go through someone's phone.' I muttered. The urge to go through it grew so I finally gave in. I typed in my name to unlock it, it didn't work. I then tried his name, still didn't work. I then typed in the name of our school football team. It worked; I can't believe his password was Badgers, like who makes their football team name their password. I decided to check what I was saved as on his call logs; it was just my name with a red heart. At least he put a red heart at the end, it was cute.

As I went through my our chat, his phone beeped. I decided to open it since it was from Maddie. I thought it was my best friend Maddie texting him. Maybe she was asking him when he will be knocking off from his practice. 'I can't wait to see you my honey bunch, when are we going on our little adventure, just you and me.' The message read, I scrolled up to see their precious chat. 'You looked good in that dress, I can't wait to see you soon.' Another message read. 'Thank you, you looked good too. I also can't wait, how about this weekend.' 'This weekend I can't, my team will be playing.' 'Okay, goodnight. I love you.' Ken just responded with a face blowing a kiss emoji. I just froze, still unable to process what I just read even when Maddie came I didn't realize it.

Ken arrived about thirty minutes later and we drove home in silence, the quietness was so awkward that Ken decided to put on the radio.

Maddie

I just couldn't wait to get home, the fact that I was with Ken in the car fueled so much, I knew if I didn't get out of this car I would end up doing or saying something I shouldn't have. I promised Claudia I wouldn't say anything or do anything but I couldn't contain myself any longer. 'You can drop me off here.' I said as we entered our street, our house was a few houses away. 'Why? We are almost home.' Ken asked. 'I need to get something from Chelsea.' I lied. He stopped the car and I got off. I didn't know anyone of that name staying on our street. I saw him pulling over at our house but none of them got out of the car, I passed by his car and went straight to

my room.
