*Daphne*
The sun was beginning to peek through the thin linen curtains of the large windows, casting a warm glow to fill the room. After leaving Alistair behind in the living room, Daphne had ducked into the first empty bedroom she could find.
She couldn’t allow her head any more time to think. Not after everything that had happened within the last twenty four hours.
Her body felt too heavy to move. Daphne cracked her eyes open, not bothering to even blink back the blurriness that overtook her vision.
For a brief moment, she had almost forgotten where she was. She wasn't in her old apartment, and she certainly wasn’t in her guest room inside the manor...
‘I’m in Rome,’ she thought blankly to herself.
Daphne felt as though her true self was being held captive by her own body. Like a bird stuck in a cage that was desperate to spread its wings and fly.
