Chapter 22: Good Girl

*Daphne*

All the air felt as though it had been sucked out of her lungs.

The second Alistair turned her around to face his desk, she knew what was coming. And her body was humming for it.

Daphne should have known that something like this was likely to happen sooner or later. Ever since Evelyn had made her that incredulous offer to leave Alistair, she hadn’t been able to keep her nerves under control.

She could hardly look at the man without thinking about what Evelyn said. Yet at the very same time, her body was constantly calling out for him. Every fiber in her being was screaming for her to tell Alistair what had been going on. But she couldn’t.

Daphne had absolutely no intention of accepting Evelyn’s deal. But that still didn’t mean that the murky blood between them was going to disappear. Not to mention, she wasn’t about to cause a riff within Alistair’s family.
