First Day of Work

April grabbed her tumbler of coffee as she checked her reflection from the full-length mirror by the wall in her room. She wanted to make sure that she was more than just presentable for her first day of work.

She was recalling the moment how she got convinced by a seven-year-old kid to accept a job from his Dad whom she had tried to avoid so many times already. Joshy seemed to have that strong effect on her, just like his father.

"What was I thinking?"

She blurted out to herself, as she continued to stare at herself in front of the mirror. It was as if she was trying to psych herself up so that she could go through with it and remain sane on a daily basis. Well, it's true. Every day, she would be working in the same building as Vincent, but hopefully not in the same room.

Wait, was she wishing for that?

Inwardly she admonished herself for that thought and then smacked herself on the forehead for good measure, in case she was being foolish again.
