Chapter 3

I immediately ran back towards the bed pulling the sheets over my body, luckily, I was just right on time. The door opened revealing the two elderly couple from earlier with them is now a tall man who looks like he seems to be in his late thirties, a long robe covered his body and a brown bag in his left hand. He looked similar with the men i've seen. Black hair and eyes, his eyes however, gazed upon me. Observing me rather closely. I felt a small hint of uneasiness from the way he was looking at me up and down.

"This is the boy, Doctor."

Upon hearing the woman's words, the man in the long coat made his way towards me. He sat down on the wooden chair next to the bed.

"Is it true you can not speak?" He asked me. I could only nod in approval as that tightness on my throat prevented me from talking.

"What reason could there be for that?"

I weakly pointed at my throat, trying my best to explain with my actions.

The man seems to have understood what I was trying to tell him.

"Open you mouth." He said, as he fished out a small silver flashlight from his bag, I could not help but notice the engraved symbols on it. I hesitated a bit to follow what he was saying, but in the situation I am right now, I simply have no choice but to follow.

The man pointed the flash light at my mouth and closely observed it.

"There seems to be no problem."

The old woman sighed in relief, "Is he simply not able to talk?"

"Before I answer that… may I ask where you found this boy?" He asked without even looking at the woman. His eyes were still busy staring at my whole being.

"I actually discovered the boy, I was in the forest collecting wood for the upcoming winter, as I was heading home I stumbled across what seems to have been a temple. I was no supposed to pay any attention to it but the opening slowly slid open as if inviting me."

"Hmm…"

The man seemed unbothered from the explanation but I could not brush off the odd feeling from how different his eyes was from his attitude.

"Now then, I shall take my leave. I recommend for him to drink some herbal tea to soothe his throat."

"Thank you so much, Doctor."

The man headed out without turning back. The door slammed shut and I was then left again with the two old couple.
