Chapter 13

A sudden flash of light came before me with every inch of my body aching. This feeling felt quite familiar, just like that day I woke up in this new world. The last thing in my mind was the face of a very dear person I know. It was a weird feeling, this old man in my head right now, the connection I felt as I gazed at his face. As soon as that thought flashed through my head, everything turned into nothing but darkness. No matter what memory I try to pull out after that memory was nothing but only a complete abyss.

I have this feeling in my gut as if I had decades worth of memories. Yet nothing came to mind on what may have happened yesterday. All I heard were voices. That's right. In my mind came the memory of a girl screaming, followed by two other voices who sounded terrified. I wished to open my eyes and help them, but to no avail my vision was still darkness, only then that I realize I could lift both of my arms. I tried to grab hold of anything I could grab onto. Seconds later I felt something soft and smooth on my palm, scared that I would lose it I hurriedly pulled it towards me. But before it could even reach my body, my palm felt wet and the one object on my hand disappeared.

I once again tried to reach my arms out again, I immediately stopped when I heard 2 pairs of feet running away from my direction.

those were my last memories.

The once complete darkness that enveloped my vision turned into sudden brightness that only made it harder for me to open my eyes.

I slowly squinted my eyes open, waiting for them to adjust to the sudden change of light. Only a few minutes had passed when I could finally see clearly, I am not so sure just how long my vision went away but seeing my vision was still fine perhaps it was not that long ago.

Despite my body feeling incredibly groggy, I could easily lift my body up. I sat up straight from the cold wet ground I was laid on and turned my head towards my surroundings.

At this very moment, I was right next to a normal cave pool, if it wasn't for the random crystals scattered everywhere, this cave would've surely been pitch black. I felt around my body just in case of any injuries, luckily I wasn't hurt. Though I was soaking wet for some reason, I was in no way in any harm.

I walked towards the pool of water and looked straight at my reflection.

"Is this really what I looked like?" I mumbled. Surprisingly as that question popped into my head a bunch of blurry visions of memories of me looking at a mirror played. I wanted to think about these memories I've been getting more carefully, but with each second I tried a sudden pain soared through my head.

Already feeling dizzy, I walked away from the pool of water and looked around the cave.

All of a sudden an object from out of nowhere appeared on the very spot where I woke up. The object was a ragged brown bag. I carefully made my way towards it as I had the feeling it was mine. As soon as I got it in my hands, I rummaged my hand inside.

It was a small notepad and also a small pouch filled with coins. I set aside the pouch and bag as I skimmed through the notepad.

After reading the contents of the note, I grabbed the bag and placed all my belongings inside. I stood up from the ground and patted down my body that was almost dry.

"That's right, I needed to go to the market."
