Chapter twenty nine

Miran was standing near the cell where Martin conducted his intense ‘interrogation’ of the woman Miran had arrested due to her association with the revolutionary leader responsible for the recent, escalating riots. Kurdistan’s unrest showed no signs of de-escalation, in fact, the protests were getting more violent. The situation had escalated to the point where Miran and his fellow police officers were compelled to resort to their firearms and weapons to try and maintain order over the resistance.

He had to shoot a man, or maybe two men, he couldn’t remember the number. He didn’t want to remember, some children fainted from the use of tear gas. He tried to tell himself that it’s a part of the job, Martin and Lucas seemed fine, Benjamin seemed fine. His co-workers didn’t look like they were struggling with the same guilt as he was.
