CHAPTER SEVEN

Thunder shakes the school, and I use my flashlight to walk down the hallway leading to the boys' dormitories. It's the first thunderstorm I've experienced since returning from the pocket dimension, a strange replacement for the usual snow.
Stopping at the first room, I check in on the boys sleeping there. One at a time, I make sure everyone is in their beds, safe and tight.
Meanwhile, the storm increases, and lightning flashes in the windows where I check the locks. It's been my nighttime routine since Nora picked me to be her assistant, and I take the job seriously.
It's weird being back here, at the school I was once a student at. Especially since I spent several years trapped in a pocket dimension, looking for the Golden Coin.
It feels like I've missed so much. My friends were happy to hear from me, but they've all moved on. They have new lives. As for my family...
