Mana Control

I know I might have agreed to fight with the student from 2 Emerald, but I am really scared. There are second years for crying out loud.

Emerald Class is the sixth ranked class with students between rank 151 and rank 180. The ranks might have changed during the Midterms and during the Slayers Vs Griffins Tournament.

Few people watch the Griffin Mage Academy Wizard lord battles because the Dragon Slayer Academy Midterm exams will be also talking place. 

Dragon Slayer Knight Academy was built made 7 years ago, 3 years after World War 3 or the War of Chaos and Justice. 

Dragon Academy is a free and all one has to do is pass the Entrance Exam unlike Griffin Academy were you have to fill in an entrance form and pay 1 500 Moz each semester unless you are above Level 100 and be sent to the White and Black Classes.

During the first years of Dragon Academy Midterms, murder wasn't judged as a crime. It just shows how this people who call themselves civilized can go under the dock sometimes.

The funny thing is people actually paid huge amounts of money to watch the matches. The law to murder was stripped 2 years later when the Griffin Mage Academy was built.

Even with the coming of the Griffin Academy, The Dragon Slayer Knight Academy had already gathered many fans and not forgeting the fact that Knights are more valued than Mages.

On a normal gate raid a Knight is paid 20% more than a mage. Even small business owners have more income than Mages.

The highest a mage from the Griffin Academy has ever got to winning the Slayers Vs Griffins tournament was when the Current Witch Queen reached the Simi-Finals last year.

I just finished putting on the Academy track suit, it all red and has two white strips on edges inclosing a red t-shirt.

I took one last glance at my bedroom, and saw a neatly organized bed at the corner facing a wooden wardrobe.

I walked into the living room and was greated by the smell and sound of fried rice coming from the kitchen. I sat on the couch facing the 10 inch tv and within a few minutes Urchin come with breakfast before I started digging in.

He sat next to me, "Sky you won't beliief want happened to me last night."

"If you are talking about the fact that you were scared from fighting the 2 Emerald students, trust me I know."

Urchin started eating, "Something even worse."

"Did you break a toe or something."

"No, Janice called me last night."

"Are you sure, she didn't call the wrong number."

"Thats what she said, when I answered but she didn't hung up for like five minutes."

"And you didn't hung up either."

"It looked like she was talking to someone in the background, the words " Dean there is no way I would love that idiot" often come out of her mouth."

"Does this connect to what Dean said last night?"

"You mean when he said that a rose might say hi late at night."

"Probably."

"If so why didn't Janice say anything."

"Probably that she is in love with you and got cold feet at the last moment."

We all started laughing at how stupid that sounded.

We finished eating and took off to school using the subway. We live in 25th District which is where the town part of Griffin City is located.

The first 4 Districts are for Griffin Academy. The 5th District to 15th District are the suburbs.

Today's lesson is happening in the 16th District which is also known as 16th Waters. Its called that because thats when all the 16 rivers in Griffin City meet. There is hardly enough land their, resulting in people deserting the place.

We got off the train and the first figure we saw was of a pink haired man wearing a pink track suit with pink shades while holding a cardboard box.

We walked towards him as he is our class teacher Dean Evester and he smiled at us, "Good thing you two morons are late."

I frowned a bit, "Aren't you also late. You said the lesson starts at 0700hrs," I looked at my smartwatch, "And its now 0803hrs."

"Haha, as your teacher I have the right to be late and as punishment one of must put this box I am carrying into his storage space. Be careful its very heavy."

Both me and Urchin reached for the box at the same time.

Thud..

The box fell face of the ground as we couldn't lift it. I could feel some of my bones break from trying to lift it.

Dean frowned, "Don't be idiots put it in your storage space, we are already late so please don't waste more time today's lesson is important."

I left the box with Urchid and he put in his storage space, before following Dean.

We followed along the narrow path way filled with dust inclosed by water. We walked for 500 metres before we could see the end of the path way, where our classmates were waiting.

"You are late as usual Dean," Aria was the one to speak.

Dean just smiled and walked towards the end of the path way. We just stood with the other students and it was like a ghost had walked through, it is mostly because of the fight that took place yesterday.

It was a bad thing that it happened when were in the middle of breathing in mana. I don't really have to worry about wanting to see fights, as a day from now I would be in one.

Why did I have to provoke Stewart Waitforit, God damn I can't stop the edge to laugh when ever I think of him.

"Everyone please pay attention to todays lesson as its the backbone of all the lessons we will have in the future."

At Dean's words I stopped smiling and looked directly at our teacher who was standing a few inches away from the water.

Dean removed his shades, "Sky and Urchin if you say something off topic I am going send you 6 foot deep."

I swalloed down my saliva as it looked like Dean wasn't in the mood to play around and if I did something out of bound, I might end up regretting it for the rest of my life.

Dean kept on a straight face and continued speaking, "Today we are going to learn about Mana Control.

I am sure all of you remember the way I taught to breathe in mana yesterday. Today we will be doing something similar but no sitting cross legged.

I want you each to close your eyes and start pulling out the mana inside your heart outside of the body.

There are three drills to this lesson. The first is to walk on water for 100m, the second is to walk on thin air for another 100m and the third is to breathe under water for five minutes. If you do all three you can take your homework and go home.

I will now demonstrate to you how its done. In order to walk on top of water, you need to move mana to every blood vessel inside your body.

Your body will start feeling light and after that you can be successful on walking on water."

Dean stopped talking and started walking backwards until he stepped on water. It was magnificent.

I had seen videos of top rankers walking on water, but this was the first time seeing it in real life and was being done by a mage.

I truly get why he sent a message in the middle of the night telling us to come to the 16th Waters instead of going to the Academy.

Dean started running on top of water and not a single drop of water splashed out from dam.

He got outside, "I am sure you all saw that and now to the second part of the lesson, you have to add more mana to your blood vessels until you start to float."

Dean started floating above ground and stars were visable in all the boys eyes. Dean looked more like an angel sent from the heavens with the sun shining above his head.

"Wow~"

Thats the only thing that excaped my mouth as I watched our pink haired teacher dance around the air like he was a bird for 10 minutes.

He stepped on the ground, "Urchin bring me that box I gave you earlier."

Urchin dragged himself towards Dean walking like a robot, but it our teacher just over looked it.

Urchin took out the box and walked away from Dean who took out four pairs of magic weight bracelets.

Dean put on the weight bracelets while saying, "This bracelets I am wearing are 500 k.gs each. There are a key part to the pre-midterm exam I will be giving you, before you go to the fighting exams."

Dean clapped his hands and an echoing sound was released, "Now for the third part of today's lesson. I want you to move mana to your blood vessels until a thick layer of mana is visable from outside your body." 

Dean stood still and his body started to be coated by a mana. It resembled the colour of sakura blossoms.

Dean smiled, "This can also be used as a method of diffence against spells and also for close range attacks. 

Speaking of close ranged attacks Mizuko, David and Andre stay after lessons are over.

Now I am going to be under water for the next hour you can do want ever you want in the mean time except peeing in this lovely dam. There is plenty of life under the water so please don't."
