Leaning in, he gently kissed me, leaving me in a state of surprise I flushed my eye lids continuously. With his warm breath brushing against my face, he softly whispered, "Erica, tell me what's going through your mind."

I looked at him, my eyes searching for his. "Benjamin, I need you to understand that this isn't just about us anymore. Penny deserves a stable home and a loving family."

"I know," he said, his voice breaking. "I know I've been selfish, but..." he trailed off.

I want to be the father she deserves and the partner you need. But what about me, Erica?"
