Breakfast Stop

***Read the Auxillary, it is the first book!***

I lived in Calicrow. The mysticals here weren't a lot like back home. I thought my family were the only ones with supernatural gifts in this town but my best friend Krea is starting to seem a bit more different than normal. We just got over a scary incident with a monster that my parents rescued us from a few days ago.

I am on medication. I have found and made remedies to make a dizzy spell I was going through, go away. It was the worst thing ever and I thought I was going to die or have a bad accident. I am wearing my new special purple glasses my parents got me, I take this pungent green stuff they also made, and a pink bubblelicious potion that me and Krea whips up in the kitchen. Yup, all of that helps and now my senses are hyper! As a Velcro Being, I already have curly hair that is alive and sharp metal slabs for nails, but I keep them cute!

Someone knocked on my door. I was sitting on my beanbag relaxing and wondered if my parents were going to give me another lecture about how to hone my abilities or travel safely. When I got up and opened it, my mouth dropped open at who was standing before me.

"OMG it's you!" I exclaimed, my tri-colored eyes sparkling with joy! There he was, my older sibling, whom I haven't seen in what felt like forever.

"Hey Zi!" He smiled and scratched his tight curly dark brown hair with black highlights.

I was almost speechless. My eyes squinted behind my purple glasses. He had left without warning. My parents tried to find him but wherever he had gone, he have some explaining to do.

"Why did you leave?" I asked abruptly. I put my hand on my hip with questions stirring inside my head.

"Let's not get into details. How are you doing in college? Your second year treating you well?"

"Wow. It's great, but…"

"Okay that's good. Want to go for some breakfast?"

He was ignoring me. Well… Imma get him to talk sooner or later… He was my only sibling and would sometimes take me and Krea on adventures. It was fun hanging with him. At our old house, he would tell me about different mysticals he have ran into or heard about. I wonder what he knows about Calicrow.

We went to a random breakfast stop. There were about five other people in here with us. The only waiter in here stopped by to greet us and hand us menus. The items on the menu looked tasty! I was hungry for food, and whatever information I could get him to say about why he left and stayed gone for over 2 years, with nothing but a vague letter he would send every now and then, was my goal...

Our long straight haired waiter took our order. I picked out sunny scrambled eggs that glowed yellow with boonboo meat. They had 10 legs and no head. Just a body with a lot of muscle.

"Hey Zi…" Said my bro-

Something flew by so fast. The waiter was at the table across the room refilling bubbly drinks to a couple. My plate was now in front of me along with my bubbling health shake. It had a thick blue vapor emitting from it.

The blue vapor flew to my brother and he spun it around a finger. I was shocked.

"What!" was all I could say…

"Hehe. I know you all been wondering about me but I just couldn't say anything… but this is pretty cool eh?"

He talks pretty fast. I rolled my eyes. Yeah that was pretty cool. What is that called… He threw the vapor into the air to dissapate into nothing but a pleasant smell that lingered.

I tapped my heavy metal nails on the table. This time I painted the metallic things a sparkly orange color. I etched a heart on the table and he raised an eyebrow.

My family were Velcro Beings. I just cannot believe we haven't seen other mysticals in this part of town. It surprised me my brother could now do such a cool thing...

"You know that waiter is a mystical." He told.

"Wait really?" I was shocked.

"She's fast. I mean c'mon sis, did you even see her put the plate down?"

"Oh. You know what, I really didn't notice she even did that..."

I turned around to get a peek at her. She was to the next guest in another corner. She was pouring him a drink mixture that was different from the couples drinks. I realized he was not joking. How did she get to the kitchen and back so fast?

I raised my hand. Der looked at me and rolled his eyes. The waiter appeared and I just did not know how she got here all of a sudden. I wouldn't have noticed that her movements were, spot on, ha, if Der didn't tell me she was a mystical.

"Ma'am, is everything okay?" Her hair swayed smoothly side to side. It was so sleek and straight and cute!

"Yes." I smiled. "I was just wondering if I could order another drink! Same one. They are so yummy!"

Der looked at me and sighed. Yes he was treating her to breakfast, but the job he was working had him sticking to a tight budget.

"Yes ma'am." She smiled and looked at Der and winked.

Der glanced away and she left and came back with my stuff immediately. I gulped it down and wondered why he did not speak to her more. She seemed pretty nice.

We left the breakfast stop and got into Ders' car. He did leave a nice tip though. Back at home now, Der put in an action movie and plopped down on the couch.

I was going to go back in my room but he told me to sit with him. He had talked to mom and dad already about his random departure. They were so happy to see him again and would have punished him if they weren't so understanding.

"Zi?" He said.

"What?"

"I hope you're not mad."

"Hm. Not anymore..."

"Well, glad you're doing well."

"I almost died."

"What?" He said looking frantic.

"Mom and dad saved me and Krea from this crazy bus driving monster. Not only that, I have to take medicine now and wear glasses."

"Whoa what? Zi... Hey... I'm here now." He lowered his head and quietly said "I'm glad you're okay... How's Krea?" He glanced at me and nudged my side with his elbow. He treats Krea as if she's his sister as well.

"She's fine, but, I think she's a mystical."

"Say what!"

"I think our parents know something about it too. She be literally glowing sometimes..."

"Oh wow... "

"Yeah. Calicrow is something else. It appears to be more to it than I thought."

"I guess so sis."

The movie played a scene where a car blew up. Der didn't say anything else. I was glad he was back. I am glad I am alive.
