Unable to Escape the Truth

The way Gus was whisked away put a bad feeling in the pit of Sophia's stomach.

Rachel and Ethan tried to reassure her that it was alright, but something felt very wrong.

On the third floor at the end of the hallway, the three friends sat on a balcony next to open double doors. They were silent for a while as they sat on white cushioned chairs and enjoyed the sunlight.

Sophia was lost, thinking about the appointment and all she had learned. They would continue monitoring her but everything was normal so far. She could look forward to more results from her blood test in a few days.

Rachel was the first to speak up after a while.

"How did everything go?" she asked. "I can't imagine how strange it must feel knowing there's something inside of you."

Sophia smiled but she couldn't hold back a groan as she spoke.
